Today we’d like to introduce you to Isha Koroma.
Hi Isha , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in west African Sierra Leone and i move to the USA in 2016. I graduated with my bachelor’s in Texas, i work as a hairstylist and a content creator while i was attending KD conservatory college in Dallas i graduated with my Associate Degree In Fine Arts. I move to New York to purse my acting career so I’m currently attending New York Film Academy and will be graduating in August 2025 with my Bachelor’s In Fine Arts. I love acting with all my heart and i know i will be able to help a lot of people through film and also i love to to make people feel beautiful of themselves and love to put smile on people faces. When i move to New York i do content for a living and also work as a HHA a home health aid for three day during the week at night from 8pm to 8am at the same time i also manage to take in client that want to get their hair done during the weekend. I’m also a full time student i love what I do and I can’t wait to impact all the young adult and kids that think they can’t go after their dream.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One thing i have learn in life is that theirs is going to be some few bumps in the road and it’s up to you to keep pushing and not give up. From the moment I started this journey there have been a lot of bumps in the road , after I graduated high school I didn’t know what i want to do but i have always known that i want to a actress and also a hairstylist but knowing where I’m from with tradition there’s no way it will be possible so i pick up the camera and start a YouTube channel I stared blogging and I realize I actually love being infront of the camera. To convince my family that. I want to purse an acting career was really a difficult time in my life because coming from an African family my dream is not an actual career to them but i thank God my family end up supporting to go fate what. I want and love. 9after i made the decision to do acting and attend college to become professional it was another struggle for me because i have to work and pay my bills and also a full time student so it was really hard to work and school at the same time. I graduate with my Associates degree and move to New York life have not been easy for me as well. After i move to NYC it become harder for me to work and also go to school full time i have facing a lot of hard time, there have comes time i don’t have anything to eat so i sign up for food supplies i was only living with my cat but now i live with my cousin and best friend and to be honest life have been a little easy with people around and also i t hank God for my family for helping me sometimes. With all this i know it will pass and it all worthy because i love what i do and what i;’m working hard for at the end of the day i know God will see me through. During this whole struggle I’m going through one thing that have been kept me going is God having God by my side have make the impossible happen God have come to my rescue so many times. So never give up keep praying
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m currently a full time student in New York fILM academy I WORK AS A HHA AND ALSO A HAIRSTYLIST. I do content for a living and make some money out of it by working with different company. I’m proud of how far i have come at some point i own a hair salon but close it because i become too busy with school , I’ll reopen my sole after graduation in August 2025. I’m so proud of myself because I’m able to make some money whiles doing something i love which is content I remember some people in my life don’t believe in me but now they see things differently. I’m also proud of my self for going to college and about to graduate with my BFA a lot of people around me think I’ll never make it this far but look at me now I’m working hard for what I believe in. I also work with people that have small business like if they want to promote their business out there to the people and also i have a good a amount of followers on my TikTok so i use that platform to help other people. I receive product and put other people on to it.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memory was when I snuck out of the house to attend a school party that everyone was attending. Growing up in an African home it’s hard to go out like you want so if you find a way to sneak out then you should be proud of your self lol. I was living with my grandma and she love and adore me with al her heart I know i was going to get in trouble but i end up doing it. The next day i was in a big trouble but my grandma still show me love and she have a habit to save me food in her bag all the time. If you give their bread she will split it into two and keep keep the other Hal,f but if i behave she will whoop me lol but i love her with all my heart and my memory’s with her is always my favorite childhood memory
