Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Moreno.
Hi Jenny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Moreno Chamoy began as a venture to promote personal growth during a time of hardship and adversity. It was the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and I was adjusting to uncertain times by working on projects to fulfill my newfound free time at home. I decided to make chamoy and found that it brought me lots of joy as it became a treat I loved to share with my family. I began to promote my chamoy on Instagram, and the exposure gained me a few customers. I loved being able to provide a treat for others that brought joy into their lives, so I continued to share my chamoy. I started attending events along with other small business owners and took those opportunities to network and grow my business past my Instagram audience. As my business continued to grow, my family stepped in to support my busy schedule. I reflected on my values and the mission I have for my business. Eventually, we added new items into my business, such as my Aguas Frescas, Dulces Enchilados, and Frutas con Chamoy. We continued to network and seek avenues to promote the business, and we have been able to partner with businesses that share our values. You can find us at The Local every Tuesday from 8 pm until we sell out and at the Elegant Edge Studio when you book with Jessica! Moreno Chamoy represents the inclusion of all races, genders, and sexualities; we want to promote mental wellness across all demographics. We want people of all backgrounds to find joy in life with a taste of our creations!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Moreno Chamoy Road has been bumpy at times, but the wins make everything worth it. I started this business out of pure passion; a drive to seek a better future for myself and my family has kept me going. I do not have the background of a business student, nor do I have the budget of a large corporation, but I have been able to muscle through the hardships because my ambitions allow me to see what I am capable of. As much as my business is growing, I am growing with it. I have been learning through trial and error and discovering what is right for myself as a business owner and what is right for my business, and the direction I want to head into. Finding the right audience for what we have to offer has been an interesting journey, but our mission and truly discovering what we want our business to promote has been a turning point. Mental health is the center of what we want our business to focus on because I have been able to overcome personal and business obstacles and we want to provide a safe space for others to seek improvement within themselves. We have found or been discovered by a few businesses that appreciate my mission and have helped us grow along the way. Comida el Cabezón, Elegant Edge Studio, and The Local have become trusted partners of Moreno Chamoy because they share our values and recognize the work ethic that goes into making small businesses grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been a sales representative for a decade now for several companies across the nation. My main goal in my role has been to build revenue for the associations I have worked for and to motivate my team. With my experience, I am able to connect with all kinds of people to find what product or role best fits with their needs. I am proud of the relationships of I have been able to build with the people I have met throughout my career. Whether the interaction is 30 minutes or they become a friend for years, I am able to find ways to relate and bond with the people I meet. I have added a unique perspective to all my teams by creating meaningful interactions that leave all parties with a positive impression.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The future of Moreno Chamoy is collaborating with more businesses and getting our products and our story out into a wider audience. The greatest support for us is to partner with us and help in spreading our mission. Moreno Chamoy wants to support mental wellness by partnering with therapists and clinics that provide help to those with mental health problems by finding ways to provide free resources for people seeking help. By simply telling a friend about us and our mission, your are getting us into that next step; we are eternally grateful for everyone that has had a hand in our success, and we look forward to more growth.
