Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started as a singer and dancer performing on cruise ships and in theatre. I began teaching and found a love for young dancers. When we moved to Texas it seemed like a wonderful opportunity to spread the magic of ballet to the city of Haslet!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, overall it has been a wonderfully smooth road! We’ve had a few bumps that come with opening a new business such as finding contractors we could trust. But the families we serve are simply the best and I’ve loved watching the word spread and meeting new dancers.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have the privilege to guide our amazing teachers at Tutu School so they can excel as teachers to the kids in our community. We specialize in young dancers beginning at 6 months old and take them through 8 years old. We use techniques that allow space for kids on the spectrum or with disabilities and are venturing into providing ballet for Spanish speakers soon too! At Tutu School we feel that it is important to foster a strong community for friends and family which is why we also host Birthday parties, special events, and Ballet Camp!
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
A favorite childhood memory of mine is when my father dressed up as Aladdin in his Prince Ali costume for one of my first dance performances! I was wearing a gold Arabian costume. It is such a sweet memory for me.
