Life & Work with Johnny Jackson Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Jackson Jr.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started years back in corporate. I was DJing a lot of corporate events with Great Music and Games. After covid hit hard for a lot of companies, I decided to make the switch to bars and clubs to see if I was actually good at this DJ thing, and not just in a corporate setting. Long story short, I started with one bar, then grew rapidly to now being one of the best in the country and soon globally. I am one of few DJs based in Dallas who has played abroad.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No. There are ups and downs to everything, but mainly just the people who want to cash in on your success; that has been tough in itself, knowing who to have around you and who not to. I will say networking has done wonders for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am one of the biggest and best international traveling DJs. I DJ in 5/7 languages each set, and I have rocked parties in many different cultures and countries. I am mainly known for having the smoothest and hypest sets because when a person chooses to come out, I want to make sure not only are they going to hear every genre but experience different cultures’ music. Appreciation for cultures and ensuring you are going to have the best party you’ve ever had is key to me each and every week.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Network with everyone and see who is legitimate and who is trustworthy.
