Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan (Jay) Day.
Hi Jordan (Jay), so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Yes of course. So I started off as an artist who was young and broke and couldn’t afford the things I needed to shape my career. So of course I took the DYI route and started doing everything myself. I have a background in tech so naturally I began to gravitate towards what I was doing, engineering, videography, photography etc. The more I dove into the fields, the better I became. The rest is history
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
NOOOOOO. One of the rockiest roads man could travel lol. So from my perspective there are 3 things that you need to excel, the freedom to learn and grow , the money to be able to afford the gear, and the time/patience to practice and experiment. It takes a special setup to have all three of those. There will be LOTS of ups and down in this field, mostly downs, lots of growing pains and you just have to really love what you do to keep going
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a self taught creative director. I specialize more so in cinematography, but I’m a very capable photographer and graphic designer as well though. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in regards to the quality of my work. I have a competitive edge that won’t allow me to be complacent, that’s what sets me apart
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Yes, DONT! Lol I kid I kid, I’d say don’t skip the basics, don’t rush the process, really take your time to learn. Nothing that I can think of, it’s a beautiful journey, you just have to STAY FOCUSED
