Hi Kee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My family immigrated from South Korea in 1981. Since then, we started Men’s Collections and have been going strong ever since. We specialize in dress or formal wear, along with our same or next day tailoring services. We’ve been voted #1 Men’s Retail Business for the last 2 years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a small business is never a smooth road. There are always complications or never-ending tasks. But we are fortunate to have been doing this for 45 years – and are extremely grateful for the community’s support. So those struggles or hiccups along the road, has helped us grow as a business. It’s honestly all about perspective. We are just grateful to be able to still be in business after all these years and have continued success, regardless of the struggles.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are known for selling formal or dress clothes, such as: Suits, Dress Shirts, Dress Shoes, Dresses, etc. But our specialty is also that we have an impressive team of tailors – so all of our alterations or tailoring is done same or next day. Regardless of the time crunch many of our clients may be in, we often can get them in a fully tailored suit or clothing within an extremely fast turn around.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
It is impossible to see the future. We hope to continue to provide that “neighborhood feel” while also servicing a level of professionalism. Human interaction and customer service, especially in an industry where there may not be people as knowledgeable about suits or clothing is always imperative.
