Hi Khandi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my YouTube channel in 2022 just for fun. At first, it was simply a creative outlet—something I did in my free time with no big plans. But the more I created, the more I realized how much I truly enjoyed it. I loved sharing my thoughts on beauty, lifestyle, health, and travel, such as my skincare routine, favorite travel destinations, and tips for a healthy lifestyle. I started connecting with people who resonated with my content.
As I continued on this journey, I discovered a larger purpose. I wanted to challenge the societal norms that suggest being in your 50s means you should fade into the background. I refuse to accept that. My channel has become a platform to inspire and remind others, especially women in their 50s, that we are still vibrant, learning, and exploring, and most importantly, our voices matter. It’s about empowerment, about showing the world that we are not just a number but a force to be reckoned with.
I stay consistent, balancing my content with everyday life because I love what I do. Today, I’m proud to say that I have over 5,000 subscribers! It’s fantastic to know that so many people are on this journey with me. My platform is about more than just sharing tips and experiences—it’s about encouraging others to embrace this stage of life with confidence and joy.
And I’m excited to keep growing and reaching even more people along the way!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been easy. I work full-time in management for a major insurance company, which already keeps me busy. On top of that, I’m currently enrolled in college, working on my bachelor’s degree, and I’m also a wife, so juggling everything can be a challenge.
With social media and YouTube, so much more goes on behind the scenes than just filming. Not only do I create content, but I also have to edit it myself, which was a whole new skill I had to learn. It has been a learning process, from understanding how to use a camera to navigating editing software.
One of the biggest struggles has been effectively managing my time, but I’m working on it every day. Despite the challenges, I truly enjoy creating content; that passion keeps me going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a supervisor in the Pre-Authorization department, managing a team of 21 employees. My role involves processing payroll, providing coaching and feedback, and attending numerous meetings focused on the insurance industry and how it impacts our business.
I’ve been with my organization for 21 years, which has given me a deep understanding of the industry. However, I’ve only been in my current supervisor position for nine months, so I’m still learning and growing in this role.
I’m most proud of my ability to support and develop my team while adapting to the ever-changing landscape of healthcare and insurance. My commitment to continuous learning and my ability to balance leadership with professional growth sets me apart.
Any big plans?
I’m excited to use my degree to build and grow my brand, Just Khandi. One of the things I’m most passionate about is creating my line of beauty products, like body butter and sugar scrubs. I’m also planning to launch a collection of stylish and functional athletic wear. I can’t wait to get started on all of these!
I also want to collaborate with other content creators to discuss how social media can be such a positive and financially rewarding platform, especially for people who might not realize all the opportunities it offers.
I look forward to collaborating with brands that align with my values and vision. These partnerships will help me connect with a wider audience and create resonated content. Of course, I’m hoping to be invited onto more platforms to share my journey and inspire others who are trying to balance work, life, and their passions.
