Today we’d like to introduce you to KJ and April Yaeger. Them and their team share their story with us below:
KJ and April both worked for their respective employers for more than 22 years (KJ in the railroad/train services and April in the legal field). After visiting a few Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bars on the east coast, we believed this restaurant would be a great fit in our big state! We need a restaurant that has a great atmosphere, good food and drinks, and a beach/sports bar vibe. This restaurant has it all! It will have more than oysters and other seafood options; you’ll find hamburgers, wings, salads, and the list goes on…
KJ will remain with the railroad, but April has recently left 27 years in the legal industry behind to operate their very own Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar in Mansfield, Texas. They cannot wait to get started and serve you!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Luckily, being this is a franchise, we could not ask for better partners. Matt Piccinin, Co-founder, and Jonathan Weathington, the CEO of Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar (SSOB), know the industry inside and out, and they always have answers and guidance to our questions or concerns. SOB gives you the materials for the smoothest road possible, but as you can imagine, there are always challenges. Currently, we face inflation costs that are extreme – from increasing costs of materials to labor. We just keep the faith that everything will work out in the end. I think seeing the faces of people coming to our restaurant will be the reward that offsets this challenge.

We have a loving and supportive family, so working hard every day for them is very easy for us to do. We also have a great team (GM, KM and FOHM), that we will be announcing soon, and we are honored they have decided to join us.
