Lance, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up here in Dallas and went to the University of North Texas, where I earned my degree in Kinesiology and became part of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, Zeta Upsilon chapter. College taught me a lot about resilience, community, and self-discovery. After graduation, I stepped into corporate America, working at companies like Sally Beauty as a cybersecurity specialist, and learned a great deal about navigating corporate life, responsibility, and financial management. These experiences shaped my understanding of the value of discipline, detail-oriented thinking, and the importance of investing in yourself. Throughout it all, family and faith have remained my foundation, guiding my decisions and inspiring me to continually grow into the best version of myself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Balancing college with work was challenging, and at times, the stress felt overwhelming. After graduation, stepping into corporate America introduced its own hurdles, from managing long hours to learning how to handle financial success wisely. I’ve faced setbacks, experienced lifestyle creep, and learned some tough lessons about discipline and financial responsibility. But each struggle taught me resilience, helped me grow, and ultimately shaped me into someone who’s intentional about building a better future.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work in cybersecurity, specializing in helping businesses protect and secure their systems. My role involves carefully evaluating technology and processes to ensure they’re robust and secure. I’m known for my attention to detail, my ability to simplify complex ideas, and my genuine enthusiasm for technology.
What makes me proudest isn’t just my career, though it’s my commitment to personal growth and discipline. I’ve learned firsthand the value of responsibility, both financially and personally, and that sets me apart. I’m someone who continually seeks to improve, stay curious, and learn from every experience. More than anything, I’m proud of my determination to build a legacy defined by purpose, integrity, and continuous improvement.
