Life & Work with Lex in the Box

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lex in the Box.

Hello Lex in the Box, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I fell in love with broadcast my sophomore year of high school. This was because I auditioned and was chosen as a news anchor for Dallas ISD’s television show, School Zone Dallas. After being a part of the show for the remaining of my high school career, I was accepted at the University of Texas at Arlington where I majored in Broadcast Communication. This led me to create my very own entertainment-talk show on UTA Radio by the name of Lex in the Box. After gaining experience as a radio host, producer, and board operator of my own show, I applied for Dallas’ own sister radio stations-K104 FM and 105.7 FM (KRNB). I worked at the stations as a promotions coordinator, which allowed me to gain a lot of hands-on experience. Shortly after my time with the stations, I wanted to give television a try again, so I started my YouTube Channel, Lex in the Box. On my show, I interview entrepreneurs, musicians, artists, and all-around creatives. I have interviewed people such as Erica Banks, Claudia Jordan, and K104’s Cat Daddy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a very interesting road I must say as a personality. Sometimes it is smooth, other times it is rough. When I first started Lex in the Box, I struggled to find a team to help bring my creation to life, so I used my friends a photographers, videographers, editors, and content creators. In essence, I was a part of every part of the behind the scenes of the show, so it was a lot. From the location, lighting, audio, hair, makeup, you name it! I helped my friends bring my vision to life by teaching them what I knew and having them led a helping hand on set. These days it is much easier because of a friend of mine–Paul! Paul is the owner of Nexem Creative Studios, where I film for my show. He is also my videographer

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
All in all, I am a media personality. This can extend to hosting an event, moderating a panel, or any time of audio work. Broadcast is what I do best. I am most proud of how I have created a name for myself over the past few years and have really been getting noticed and invited to many event. My most recently proud of the fact that I interviewed Claudia Jordan at Kevin Hawkins’ music experience. My energy and smile sets me apart from others in my field. I am very welcoming and want to make all guest feel as though I love my job and care about their experience.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have to thank so many people, specially my mom, dad, and two sisters Sharda’ and Mercedes for always supporting and believing in my dream. A special thanks goes out to all of my family, close friends, and more specifically my mentor Tashara Parker. Also,
