Life & Work with Logan Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Thomas.

Logan Thomas

Hi Logan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’m a graduate from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. I am currently a residential and commercial interior designer at Dallas Design Group, Interiors. I have such a passion for helping others in a way they cannot help themselves. Being in interior design it has opened my eyes to all the beauty that comes with designing; as well as the structural fundamentals of design. As an individual who works every day to help others, I’ve always known that’s what I’m meant to do. Growing up I always had an eye for design, as well as a passion to help others in any way possible. With this career, I am able to achieve both of those goals of mine on a daily basis.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I honestly am so thankful for how everything has fallen into place for my life and career. After graduating, I immediately moved back to Texas and began an internship position with the design firm I am with currently, and then was blessed to have them hire me on officially. I’ve been grateful for smooth transitions into each stage of my life so far. Of course, there’s always going to be bumps in the road, but with faith, I’ve overcome them. For example, after graduation, no one tells you the challenges you’re going to have transitioning from a college student mindset to being in your career and all the mentally, physically, and emotionally aspects that come from it that you then have to train yourself to overcome. Once I realized the change, I immediately corrected my mindset, and it all fell into place perfectly.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I feel like I’ve always had an eye for design starting from a young age. Every project has a number of phases it goes through to get the end result of a completed project. One of the first phases is scheming, which includes pulling paints, tiles, wallpaper, hardware, decorative lighting fixtures, and more. With all of this, we make mood boards, design boards, or whatever you’d like to call it, and that’s where all the different spaces are created, with all the creative juices spilling into the presentation. This is the phase I LOVE. With this, I am able to express myself and how I like to design in different ranges through the different schemes I develop. This allows the clients to see the value you have and the diversity of design you can bring to the table. Furthermore, from the actual design aspect of the career, I am known for my personality and my love to help others. I feel I bring so much joy and happiness to the workplace just because of the energy I bring, my mindset of always making every day the best, and for showing others, they are loved and cared for, even in the slightest way. I hold so much value and need for helping others in ways they can’t or don’t know how to help themselves, which is one of the reasons I chose this career. Due to my charismatic drive, I feel what sets me apart from others is that any chance I get to help someone, I will. For example, my family and I started a feed the homeless event we’ve hosted for the past 10 years. It started off with just 10 bags filled with anything I could find in our pantry, such as PB&J’s, chips, a banana, water bottle, and then I hand wrote bible verses and stapled them to each bag; to this past year, we were able to feed over 1,500 homeless individuals but were able to provide them with hot pizza, waters, toiletries, gloves, socks, emergency foil blankets, feminine products, fruits, and more. We’ve been blessed to have companies support what we do by donating items for this event and families donating and joining us yearly. From this, God put me on this earth to spread his love and joy with everyone, and that’s exactly what I am going to do in my career and personal life.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learned to always respect others’ opinions and thoughts on what has happened, as well as seeing how the designs have shifted in ways to accommodate the crisis.
