Today, we’d like to introduce you to Loren Boyd.
Hi Loren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I opened The Studio in August of 2020.
Our mission is to provide Fort Worth and beyond with authentic vinyasa yoga classes and a place for people to connect with like-minded individuals desiring to meet their health and wellness goals. Our classes are designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced yoga practitioners. We aim to create a safe space that supports the healing, empowerment, and overall wellness of our members and guests.
We opened during a time of much uncertainty, fear, and stress that was felt worldwide. Many yoga studios closed during this time, ironically when we needed them the most. We needed these spaces to experience human connection, remember that we are not alone, and tend to our bodies and minds to keep them healthy. This is why The Studio was born.
Fast forward to 2024. We are celebrating four years of being open this summer. The Studio community is growing daily as we continue to spread the word that we are here. Our aim is still getting new students in the door to try the unique style of mindful vinyasa yoga that we offer, and to keep building our community of members.
This year, we installed infrared heat panels in our studio space, providing many health benefits and delivering a consistent temperature of 95-97 degrees for our vinyasa classes. The infrared panels have truly taken the experience of our classes to the next level. We also announced the launch of our very first yoga teacher training program in 2025!
We are thrilled to offer yoga teacher training as a way for students to both deepen their practice and learn how to share the gift of yoga with others through teaching.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and no. Opening a business is a challenging endeavor in the first place. Add in the timing of a worldwide pandemic, and you have quite a challenge on your hands.
I felt confident knowing I had a community that wanted the space since many yoga studios had closed so that part made it somewhat easy. However, there were many bumps in the road as I created and implemented processes and structures that made a strong foundation for the business. This took a couple of years. Now in our fourth year, those processes and structures are set, and things are running smoothly. Now, we can focus on building our community, which is honestly the fun part.
The nature of the growth of any business is change. Change can bring resistance, and that can be challenging to navigate. However, both challenges and change are also opportunities for growth, and that is what I am interested in. Being the best we possibly can be at The Studio. What’s most important to me is the experience we provide for our members and guests.
I want everyone who walks through the door to feel safe and seen. I want them to know that The Studio is a space where they can come return home to themselves, remember what’s most important in their life, and learn tools to navigate their life with more ease and joy.
When you own a business, you are always thinking about it. I love our community at The Studio. I truly want what’s best for our members and teachers and will go out of my way to help them thrive.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been teaching yoga since 2010. It’s my passion. When I found vinyasa yoga in 2009, I fell immediately in love with it. Having been a dancer my whole life, the flow of vinyasa just felt right. Exercise has also always been a priority for me, particularly strength training.
When I found heated vinyasa yoga, I found it to be a beautiful one-stop-shop of sorts, blending many things together, including mindfulness, spirituality, self-awareness, strength, balance, and flexibility. I was hooked and knew I wanted to pursue this as my career and share the gift of yoga with others, a gift that continues to anchor me in this life and shine a light on the path I am walking.
Something not everyone may know is that I owned a brand and web design business for almost ten years. In 2023, after a few years of owning The Studio, I began to pivot away from my design work in order to focus fully on my yoga offerings, life coaching practice, and expanding The Studio. My degree is in Journalism from the University of Washington. I took a lot of graphic design classes in college. I designed my own personal brand and website (www.practicewithloren.com) as well as The Studio brand and website (www.thestudiofortworth.yoga).
I also manage our social media accounts and create content for them. I love the creativity involved in this work, and with marketing being a hugely important part of any business, I am grateful for the skill set I have to support this part of my business growth and development.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Fort Worth is amazing. This year will mark ten years of living here, and I say this all the time, but it truly just keeps getting better. There is so much growth happening here. After all, we are one of the fastest-growing cities in the country.
There’s a reason for that. The people are wonderful, and the energy is just so good! There isn’t much I don’t like. If I had to pick something, it would probably be the threat of tornadoes during the spring season, which quite literally freaks me out.
Having grown up in Seattle, we never experienced spring storms like we do here in Texas. While I love a good thunderstorm, they can get pretty wild here, and it definitely keeps us on our toes!
