Life & Work with Luann Morris of Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luann Morris.

Hi Luann, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Biologist, Author, Herbalist, and Reiki Master. I studied at East West School of Planetary Herbalism.

Ancient Herbal Apothecary, formerly known as Herbal Lu’s Apothecary, was Established in 2016, it initially focused on producing Elderberry Syrup. I started the business as a part-time endeavor, but it gradually evolved and expanded to meet customer demands.

Driven by a commitment to quality, I prioritize researching ingredients to ensure the highest standards in every product offered. This dedication to quality has been a cornerstone for the business, by earning a loyal customer base.
Following an unfortunate hacking incident, I undertook the rebranding of the business (2024), leading to the transition from Herbal Lu’s Apothecary to Ancient Herbal Apothecary. Despite this setback,The business has persevered and the product range expanded to include over 20 different items.

With a focus on customer satisfaction and a passion for holistic wellness, I continuously explore new products that can benefit clients. I am commitment to providing effective and high-quality herbal remedies to drive the growth and success of Ancient Herbal Apothecary.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all—and honestly, I think that’s part of what makes Ancient Herbal Apothecary what it is today. The road has been anything but smooth. I built this business without monetary back-up, safety nets, or investors, so every step required creativity, grit, and faith. I’ve faced unexpected challenges, including a full-on hacking incident that forced me to rebuild, rebrand, and start again from the ground up.

There were moments where I wondered if the dream was worth the struggle, but each setback pushed me to refine my vision and trust my calling.

I relaunched by going back to basics—pop-ups, farmers markets, and face-to-face conversations with real people who believe in natural healing. Those early sales and heartfelt interactions reminded me why I started this journey. The path hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been authentic, humbling, and ultimately empowering. Every obstacle has shaped the apothecary into something stronger, more intentional, and rooted in truth.

“Herbs are not alternative medicine, they are original medicine”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the founder and formulator behind Ancient Herbal Apothecary, where I handcraft small-batch wellness products rooted in Old-World herbal wisdom. My work blends herbalism, intuition, and education—I create teas, tinctures, oils, body care, and classes that help people reconnect with natural healing in a simple, accessible way.

I specialize in energetics-based herbal formulation, using traditional methods to craft remedies that support real people with real-life discomforts. I’m known for my gentle-but-effective blends, my attention to detail, and the soul I pour into every product. Everything I make is organic, ethically sourced, non-GMO, and created with intention.

What I’m most proud of is the heart behind the apothecary. This is more than a business—it’s the result of rebuilding, rebranding, and refusing to give up on my calling. I’m proud that I’ve stayed true to my values even without financial backing or shortcuts.

What sets me apart is the combination of deep herbal knowledge, intuitive insight, and personal connection. My customers aren’t just buying a product—they’re receiving something crafted by hand, guided by nature, and infused with decades of experience, resilience, and care.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me—and to Ancient Herbal Apothecary—is authenticity, integrity, and healing with intention.

Everything I create begins with a genuine desire to help people feel better, supported, and connected to the natural world. I care deeply about crafting remedies that are safe, gentle, effective, and rooted in Old-World plant wisdom. Using organic, ethically sourced, non-GMO ingredients isn’t just a business choice—it’s a value. It reflects my belief that healing should be pure and uncompromised.

What matters most is staying true to my calling, even when the journey has been hard. This apothecary was built without financial backing, through setbacks, hacking, and complete rebirth. The fact that it’s still standing—and growing—is because of my commitment to the work and the people it serves.

Connection also matters deeply. I value face-to-face conversations, listening to people’s stories, and creating remedies that meet them where they are. Whether it’s at a farmers market, a pop-up, or through my classes and oracle deck, I want people to feel seen, supported, and empowered in their own healing.

At its core, Ancient Herbal Apothecary exists because I believe in nature, in resilience, and in the idea that we carry our own inner healer. Helping others reconnect with that truth is what matters most.
