Life & Work with Lyre Luciano of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyre Luciano.

Hi Lyre, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey really started long before I even realized it was a journey. I was nine years old when I wrote my first piece of poetry at the time, it was just a way to make sense of the world around me. Growing up in Dallas, I didn’t have much of a blueprint for expression, so poetry became my voice before music ever did. Over time, those words evolved into purpose.

What started as simple journal entries turned into full songs, and now, into Lyre Literature; my first published book and hip-hop poetry audiobook. I’ve worn every hat in this process from writing and producing, to recording, designing, and formatting the book myself. It wasn’t just about proving I could do it; it was about showing that an independent artist can build something timeless with nothing but faith, consistency, and creativity.

Today, I see myself as more than just an artist I’m an author, a father, a visionary, and a director of sound. Everything I create is rooted in emotion, storytelling, and the desire to inspire people who come from where I come from. Every setback, every doubt, every late night became part of the story that led me here. Lyre Literature is my testimony written.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. My journey has been anything but smooth it’s been a fight, but one that built my faith and focus. I had to learn how to walk again, literally. That experience taught me more about patience and purpose than anything else in my life. When you lose something as basic as movement, you start to appreciate every step; physically and creatively. While I was healing, I poured that process into my art. Every verse, every poem, every sound became part of how I stood back up.

On top of that, navigating the independent artist grind, funding everything myself with my business partners, building a label from scratch, teaching myself the business and production sides all came with its own set of obstacles. But I believe the pain and the process gave me perspective. Lyre Literature came from that place, it’s proof that struggle can be sculpted into something beautiful. The road wasn’t smooth, but it gave me everything I needed to walk in my purpose, one step and one word at a time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hip-hop poet, storyteller, and creative architect. My work lives at the intersection of poetry, music, and film because everything I create carries a message, a mood, and a sense of purpose. I founded Poetic Soulciety, my independent label and creative home, to build a space where sound and storytelling could exist without limits. What I’m most proud of right now is my project Lyre Literature; it’s the world’s first hip-hop poetry audiobook, a full-length album and physical book designed to be read and listened to at the same time.

What sets me apart is how I approach the art; I don’t just make songs, I build worlds. I write everything myself, from the poetry to the production direction, even down to the cinematic ideas behind the visuals. My goal is to make people feel something real through storytelling.

After having to learn how to walk again, I see art differently now. I move with intention. I want my work to remind people that every scar, every setback, every silence can still speak. That’s what makes Poetic Soulciety more than a brand because it’s a movement built on reflection, and real life.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Dallas is the soul of it; the way creativity and culture live in the people. It’s a city that moves with quiet power. You can feel the southern roots of the streets, in the way folks still say “what’s good” like they mean it. There’s a certain kind of honesty here that shapes the art because it’s raw and it’s unapologetic. Dallas made me who I am. It gave me the drive to turn pain into poetry and the courage to stand on what I believe in, even when it’s not popular.

What I like least is how overlooked our creative scene can be sometimes. There’s so much talent here like poets, painters, producers, entrepreneurs; but we don’t always get the light we deserve. Too often, people have to leave to be seen. I want to help change that narrative. Dallas has stories worth hearing, and I’m proud to be one of the voices carrying that sound out into the world.
