Today we’d like to introduce you to Mack Swans.
Hi Mack, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Mack Swans, a hip-hop artist based in Shreveport, born in New Orleans. I started making music when I was 15 (2014) on my phone using GarageBand & transitioned to FL Studio at 16. Trying to make musical arrangements because I was in marching band in high school, I ended up learning how to make beats unintentionally & just started recording verses over them. Since then, I’ve self produced & self written over 20 projects. For a while, I only uploaded my music to SoundCloud but after I dropped out of college freshman year, I made a choice to pursue music as a career. In 2019 I had my first ever performance in Shreveport at a legendary downtown venue called “Minicine” in front of a pretty packed crowd, and I was completely shocked at how many people in the building knew my music word for word. I had never really seen how many people in the city were tapped into my work until that moment & it was that moment that helped me decide to seriously consider music as a career choice. It was a bit of a slow start because I don’t make traditional Louisiana Hip-Hop music & at the time there weren’t many other places for me to perform because I was under 21 years old. Then when I finally did turn 21 in 2020, COVID happened and slowed things down even more. The cool thing is all that quarantine did was give me more time to polish my sound before putting myself out there again. I worked my production skills and made 2 of the most cohesive projects in my catalog at the time. In 2022, I received a text from a local rapper I respect highly by the name of Rachard, who’s based in Bossier City. He essentially said he’d like to start rehearsing with musicians weekly & working on our stage presence. This is what changed everything and got me to where I am today. These link ups led us to rehearsing at a house that would soon become headquarters to a super collective call “Manifest” & we get to be amongst first to see it launch, a weekly jam session where all types of musicians and artists from all over the city would come out every Tuesday to create, enjoy art, and unwind after work. This was the training/networking ground that laid the foundation of the role I play in Shreveport now; entertainment, creative direction, event curation. I’ve put on numerous events like Sci-Fi themed Hip-Hop shows based off my mixtapes, battle of the bands events, back to school events, festivals, and more. I dropped a mixtape in 2023 called “Age of Insomniacs” that I created an alter ego for, a mad scientist known as Dr. Maxamillion. I performed this mixtape at almost every major event and venue in the Shreveport/Bossier area. One of the songs from it even ended up getting played on Apple Radio for Ebro’s Discovered. Now in 2026 I’m opening for some the biggest bands in Louisiana, I’ve performed in Baton Rouge, Texas, & Arkansas and will start opening for regional acts soon. I’ve got to thank the community for that.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are plenty obstacles, manipulation, unnecessary drama, unethical business practices, etc. but the main takeaway I get from these situations is to prioritize moving with more intention within the industry. It’s very easy to end up somewhere you’re not supposed to be when it comes to the entertainment industry if you’re not careful.

I’m known for making alternative Hip-Hop music. I’m most proud of the Age of Insomniacs 3 part Live Show series I did at 3 different incredible venues in 2024. I packed out all 3 venues and the energy got crazier at each of them!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My genuine passion for music.
