Today we’d like to introduce you to Makenzie Brown.
Hi Makenzie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Sure! Everything that’s going on in my world started when I moved to Fort Worth and started living on my own. I had a good job in the medical field, but being a single mom and out on my own now, I quickly realized that what I was going wasn’t enough for me. So I decided to jump-start my modeling career. Even though the pandemic and lockdowns, I was doing photoshoots and just keeping up with my image and portfolio.
My amazing photographer, VizualsbyHD, really helped me grow and always had new things for me to learn. Our work started to get noticed, and we both started getting more and more bookings. After about a year, my hard work started to pay off. I was able to start my business, “Issa Hot Girl Boutique”. I haven’t done my official launch yet, but everything is in the works, and I’m super excited! Since then, I have also signed with Tokyo Blaison, who has really taken my modeling career to the next level. I know that from here it’s going to be amazing!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. Being a black-curvy model, people are always so quick to just label you as an “IG model”. So I have to work harder to keep my respect. Also, I do have a different look, with my tattoos and me always changing my hair color.. sometimes company’s steer away from things like that, so again, having to work extra hard to prove that I can do anything that your “average” model can do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think that with my modeling, people are always like, “Ok, what is she going to do next?” because I’ve never just wanted to limit myself to one thing. I’m a creative person so I’m always thinking about how can I make this unique? And I think that is what separates me from others. I’m proud to say that there’s nothing that a photographer could throw at me that I couldn’t handle. On top of all this, I’m a mother to a beautiful little boy, and I’m preparing to launch my boutique. I feel like a rockstar and being able to take on so much at once is my blessing and flex!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was definitely the diva of the family! So much personality, not one shy bone in my body. I always cheered and was on dance teams and loved fashion! Once I got to high school, I started taking an interest in the military. So when I graduated, I went to the Army. It was a great learning experience! From there to now, not much has changed! Still a diva, just with a little more sass!
