Life & Work with Megan Clayton of Lewisville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Clayton.

Hi Megan , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey as a photographer began at home, capturing everyday moments with my family. What started as a simple way to document birthdays, gatherings, and candid smiles quickly became a passion for storytelling through images. I fell in love with the way a single photograph could preserve emotion, connection, and memory. Over time, I began exploring new techniques, experimenting with light, composition, and style — all rooted in the warmth and authenticity of those first family photos. Today, I strive to bring that same sense of intimacy and genuine connection to every session, whether I’m photographing families, portraits, or special events.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What began as a way to freeze time quickly grew into a deep passion, though the road hasn’t always been easy. There have been seasons of doubt, learning curves, and moments when I questioned my direction. But every challenge has taught me something new about myself and the art I love. Through it all, photography has remained my constant — a reminder of why I started and how far I’ve come. Looking back, every high and low has been worth it, because each step has shaped the way I see the world and the stories I get to tell through my lens.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What began as a simple passion grew into a calling, leading me to specialize in photographing families, couples, and weddings. The path hasn’t always been smooth — there have been ups, downs, and plenty of lessons along the way — but every challenge has shaped me into the photographer I am today. What truly sets me apart is my ability to adapt my editing style to each client’s vision. I believe every story deserves to be told in a way that feels authentic to the people in it — whether that means soft and romantic tones, bright and airy colors, or deep and moody hues. My goal is always to capture genuine emotion and deliver images that feel uniquely you.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
As a photographer, what matters most to me is the ability to capture moments that families might not otherwise have — the quiet smiles, the fleeting laughter, the genuine connections that often go unseen. Every image I take is more than a photograph; it’s a piece of a family’s story, preserved so they can relive it for years to come. Being trusted to freeze those moments in time is not just my passion — it’s my purpose.
