Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Fortner.
Hi Megan, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I didn’t have the best childhood! My mom was an alcoholic and my dad was always busy! Growing up, I couldn’t understand why my no one loved me or wanted me! I channeled all my hurt into sports! I was not nice, could tear people down with my words, and found love in all the wrong places! I was abused as a child, date raped in college, and the men I had been with would abuse me physically and mentally! I decided to follow Jesus at 18, but there was no leading or guiding. It was all about getting numbers of saved souls! After having my son, the man I was with cheated on me! I went outside, sat on the swing and what was going through my head was all the ways I could kill myself and my baby would be found! As tears was running down my face, I heard God say to me… “If you choose to let me in, I will help you, this is not the end for you but the beginning! You may be done, but IM NOT!” From that day forward, I changed my life. Started attending church and learning the Word! I met my husband not too long after and we got under some great leadership with Pastors Mark and Trina Hankins! They grew us and taught up! I now am an author in a book “I Cried, He Heard Me, I am on the radio brining the Word when asked, I travel around the United States ministering, and so much more! When God showed up, I took hold because I wanted a new life! He has blessed me over and above, and this is ONLY THE BEGINNING! My husband and I own on outfitting business and have two amazing little boys with a heart on fire for God! I also coach youth basketball!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not always been a smooth road.
When you are turning your life over to the Lord and following Him, the devil will attack you on all sides! When you are a baby Christian, you want to act like the old you and retaliate! You look at the people that rise up against you as the enemy and problem. You want to fight them and talk bad about them to others! You can’t do that! The love of God looks and advertises the best in people! Doesn’t mean you have to surround yourself with them, but you love them and pray for them! Some other challenges was not letting my mind and emotions run my life! That is the biggest place the enemy attacks everyone! It’s easy to want to just give in but if you do, you’re taking a step out of the divine covering God has for you! The Bible tells us to take thoughts captive, cast our cares on the Lord, replace thoughts with the Word of God! That’s how we live in the victory and authority Christ gave us all when we choose Him. Was it easy at first? NO! It sure wasn’t but when you know it will give you the life God has for you and you’ll receive blessings for your obedience, you practice it! You do it even if you don’t feel like it!

I love to teach and help people know who God really is! How He loves them, how He has a plan for them, how He protects them! I love to teach people the authority they have as believers and how to leave the old you behind! I just want people to know who God really is because He is so good! What Hw has done for me… He will do for anyone and even greater! I love to LOVE on people! I’m also a homeschool mom, traveling minister teacher of the Word! I am a you to basketball coach! When I coach, I teach the kids about God and how to maintain their thoughts and emotions! Our job as believers is tell everyone about the good new Gospel! That’s what I do and who I am! Always here to help!
What makes you happy?
God! Because He saved me, and He loves me! He never fails, and He never lets me down! He grows me in all things! He’s a good good father. He has SAVED MY LIFE! I will never go back! My husband and my children make me so happy! They Support the call of God on my life! They travel with me, and we just follow God together. They are seriously the best! Coaching basketball! Coaching children in basketball just fills my heart! I was a college basketball player, so I love to teach children the game. Not only the game but life skills, attitude, and about God! We pray before every game! I love seeing the change in them! My Faith friends make me happy! The Bible says, “iron sharpens iron just as one man sharpens another!” We have to have people to give us the truth no matter what it looks like, feels like, and seems like! We have to have people that will agree with us in prayer with the Word! The Bible says, “where two or more are gathered together in My Name, their prayers will be heard!” So important to have those crazy Faith friends! They go to war with you!
