Today we’d like to introduce you to MerCedes Lewis.
MerCedes, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always wanted to have a career and own a business since I seen my parents bring the first, yes I said first drive-through daiquiri shop, Daiquiris to Go, to Dallas, TX in 2006. When I was in college at TAMU, I started doing my own eyelashes and people kept asking who did them. And shortly after that, I started doing others as well. So when I graduated from TAMU in 2017, I went to school to get my license in eyelash extensions. After getting my license, I worked out of my house for a couple of months until I could find a building or a suite. I finally found a suite and location I liked and opened my door to my clients in November 2018 inside of Iconic Salon Suites in Mesquite, Tx. I still work my 8-5 at a law firm and do my clients after work and on the weekends. God has been good to me, and I’m more than excited to see where this journey will take me. I’m thankful for the people who have supported me this far.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have went through many obstacles and challenges with being a first-time business owner and trying to do it all on my own. But I’m still here learning, growing, and evolving my business and myself.
Any big plans?
Planning on merging my business with a practice I’m currently working on. I don’t want to give too much detail. But it will happen in the next 2-3 years. And women, men, teens, families will be able to benefit from the practice. So, when it all comes together, I will have that career and business I’ve always dreamed of since elementary school.
