Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Gamboa.
Hi Michele, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi there! I’m a Dallas native and a first-generation Mexican American. From humble beginnings, born in Zacatecas, Mexico my parents came to the US at a very young age to begin creating a life that was once only a dream for our family. I grew up in Grand Prairie and at 17 years old, I was fortunate enough to be the first four-year John A. Dubiski Career High School student to obtain a cosmetology license.
When I left for college I realized what an amazing city I left behind, so I returned to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for my sophomore year in college and leased my first apartment. I have been obsessed with the world of real estate ever since. I researched every single property that could be a great fit for me. I would make as many calls as I needed to ask all the questions, set up tours, and toured each property that I saw myself in. Once I signed a lease, I was certain that I made the best choice with where my money would be going and the space that I would be coming home to every day.
I made the most of what I had, no matter the circumstances, and immediately realized the importance of loving where you live just as much as what you do. I wanted to keep exploring the metroplex, after all, Dallas Fort-Worth is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, full of endless opportunities and so many amazing communities to explore and immerse yourself in. And just like that, the desire to match people with homes in the best location for their budget and lifestyle became second nature. I simply love talking about opportunities, new beginnings, and everything that comes with that.
I graduated with a Psychology Degree from The University of North Texas at Dallas in 2017. At this point, I had done everything I possibly could to avoid college debt and I decided that instead of using student loans to begin my graduate studies to pursue my master’s degree, I had to continue working to prepare for that next step in my educational endeavors. Thankfully I was doing something that I absolutely loved within the beauty industry. I was meeting so many wonderful people, catching up and hearing about their lives, all while pampering them and providing them a safe space to take a breather and lift their spirits. That, combined with the drive to help others which has always been in my DNA – prepared me for what the pandemic would bring. A lot of isolation, worry, and fear. Like many, I felt scared but continued to persevere. I held on to the hope that one day we would return to being able to greet each other with a handshake, a hug, or an undeniably warm and genuine “It’s so good to see you!”.
I was also blessed with a marketing internship with the company that I had been working with since graduating college, Cherry Inc. Since there was nowhere else to go once work was over, I immediately did what I had been daydreaming of doing for so many years “if only I had the time”. I worked during the day and completed my real estate courses at night. Learning about real estate during the lockdown was just what I needed to stay motivated and inspired about the future, despite all of the uncertainties that so many of us were experiencing.
In the beauty industry, my objective has always been to serve others and to add value to their lives. Although I miss the many things that I love about the beauty industry…I am ecstatic about real estate and to have the opportunity to continue doing what I love, assisting others in the journey to improving their lives and fulfilling their dreams. Soon after obtaining my real estate license, I began my career with JR REALTORS. I knew the transition into Real Estate would come with many challenges, what I was not expecting was to immediately join such an amazing brokerage. Meeting my broker, Julio Romero, and the team was an instant breath of inspiration. They filled me with information and motivated me in ways that I never expected.
The last month of 2020 was a month full of reflection and growth. After all that we went through during that year, I couldn’t help but to count my blessings. So, I soaked it all in and began my journey in assisting as many people of all walks of life to reach their goals and make the most out of their everyday lives and the money that they work so hard for.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I thought 2020 was difficult, but it was nothing compared to the difficulties and challenges that I faced in 2021. After working tirelessly to make the most of 2020, I treated myself to a rare lunch outing with a friend on New Year’s Eve. A few minutes into one of the much-awaited “It’s so good to see you’s” I got a call that my mom was in the hospital with very low oxygen levels due to a combination of pneumonia and covid. The fear I felt all year came crashing down, more aggressively than ever before. After 3 long weeks in the hospital, she was sent home, but because so many things were still uncertain and she was in such a fragile condition, her recovery was slow and the guilt of not being able to be there for her took over a lot of my mind and energy. Going out into the world seemed much scarier, I didn’t know if to work, or if to stay away from people as much as I could so I could be there for my family without exposing them to the virus.
In addition, as a REALTOR and business owner, you are constantly evolving. Every day really is a new day, and no day is ever the same. Sometimes this can be overwhelming since we are naturally creatures of habit. This has really challenged me to find stability within myself rather than in any particular place or with any material things. With the exception of my phone and laptop…and wifi…these are essential to run my business as you can imagine. In no way has this been easy, but it has been a journey that I couldn’t wait to experience. It has connected me with so many amazing people along the way and allowed me the flexibility to prioritize seeing friends and family. This experience has brought me closer to people that wish the best for me, who see when I need an extra push and who make life worthwhile when the going gets tough.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I help anyone looking to move. Whether you are looking to rent or buy, I always take into account your wants and needs. Whatever that looks like to you, no detail is less important than the other. I create a list of criteria that you are looking for in a home and I help you narrow down the best options on the market for you. I answer any questions that you have regarding your move and if I don’t have the answer, I can put you in touch with one of the highly skilled professionals in my network that can best help you. I want you to have ALL of the information that you need.
If you are looking to sell your home or any of your properties, you can trust that I will provide you with the best service possible to meet and exceed your real estate needs. I will help you negotiate price and terms while always being available and transparent so that you can really focus on spending more time with your family, prioritizing your health and enjoying the life that you’ve worked so hard to manifest.
I also work with real estate investors and business owners looking to locate their next commercial property. I know that running a business is non-stop work, let me take care of the property searches for you so that when you find a precious window of time to talk real estate, I will have done all of the research necessary in order for you to reach the most favorable outcomes in your business opportunities.
One of the best parts about joining JR REALTORS has been the incredible support they have provided me with by guiding me to be the best REALTOR I can be for my Spanish and English-speaking clients alike. This brought everything full circle for me. My parent’s efforts to preserve my culture and first language has really paid off, and I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to be able to help others in every way that I can.
Puede confiar en mí para todas sus necesidades inmobiliarias. Ya sea que esté buscando reubicarse, comprar, vender, arrendar o invertir en bienes raíces.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is having internal peace and having the discipline and courage to do everything with love and consideration. It is also having a small group of genuine and authentic people in your corner, regardless of what stage in life you’re in – to celebrate each other’s wins and to lean on during the more challenging times. It’s being in a mental state where you are motivated by a problem and the thought of taking action makes you feel like you can’t wait to wake up tomorrow so you can keep doing, creating, growing, and sharing your life with others.
