Hi Nanccy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Ever since I was a kid, I loved watching/making YouTube tutorials. Even though I didn’t record myself, I would always look into the mirror and give a step-by-step tutorial to my reflection on what I’m doing. My immigrant mother told me posting on YouTube is not needed for us, but we can watch as much as we want. My family member (Shawty Sin) on TikTok is who encouraged me to get started and I’m very grateful she believed in me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe if I were more consistent, I would have had to face more struggles along the way. I’m now pursuing a full-time content creator role and sometimes it feels as though I have to record everything because it’ll make good content. Sometimes I feel like my content is scattered all over the place and isn’t focused on one particular thing. But I kind of like that, I feel like it describes me perfectly.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, I am a 21-year-old Sri Lankan Tamil content creator. I do a little bit of everything. Fashion, makeup, skincare, lifestyle, and so on. I am also an aspiring model. I guess I’m known for my “get ready with me videos” because I kind of just do my makeup and talk about my life and dance to music. What I’m most proud of is actually having a following and getting brand deals, I never even imagined that people would support me this much, I know it’s not huge like 100k followers or even 50k but 17k is huge for me. What sets me apart from others is that I try to be authentic as possible.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as even just wanting to begin. Once you have thought of beginning, you can definitely taste the success. One decision can literally change your life.
