Hi Nancy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I joined Damsel in Defense 8 years ago. I was looking for something that I could do that would make a difference and help me become a part of something bigger than myself. When my friend’s daughter was drugged and raped, I was so outraged that this could happen. How could we have protected her better? How could we have warned her this could happen? I knew I wanted to learn more so I could help educate people in what can happen and at the same time empower them to be protected. Damsel in Defense offered the products I knew would help people who carried them to at least be able to fight back.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. When I started 8 years ago more people than not needed to be told about why it was important to carry layers of protection with them. Now more people are looking for multiple ways to protect themselves in many different situations. Not all situations need a lethal solution and that’s where I come in.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love to educate people on how to carry our products safely. Also, when to use them, how to use them and how to be confident when they use them. I believe I am known for my passion to help everyone be safe.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
When a client tells me they feel like they can leave their house now and protect themselves.
