Today we’d like to introduce you to Nerida Joy. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Renowned esthetician Nerida Joy has performed more than 100,000 facials in her over 40-year international career and is known for the way she transforms her clients’ skin by pinpointing specific concerns and designing custom treatment plans to deliver fast results.
She has been named one of the top facialists in the country by SELF magazine and was the only esthetician – along with 49 dermatologists – to be listed as a Skin Expert by ELLE. Nerida has been featured in over 60 prestigious beauty publications worldwide and serves on the Brain Trust for NEWBEAUTY magazine.
Born in Australia, Nerida knew at an early age that she wanted to devote her life to understanding and caring for the skin. Her education in skincare began in 1978, and she is also certified in nutrition, Reiki, kinesiology, iridology, Australian bush essences, color therapy, and therapeutic massage.
Over the past 30 years, she has built a loyal following of celebrity clients at her boutique skincare clinic in Los Angeles, California. She is also sought after as a consultant by luxury hotels, who rely on her expertise to transform their spas into a true five-star spa experience, and by skincare lines for advice on developing new products.
The videos on her popular YouTube channel are taught in beauty schools across the world, and she offers regular skincare advice and inspiration on Instagram, Facebook, and Clubhouse. She is the creator of the FIVESTAR Method, a step-by-step online course designed for the international esthetician community. Above all, she is passionate about elevating her fellow estheticians by teaching a deep and detailed understanding of the skin.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Moving to another country was a big deal for me, leaving two spas I built in Sydney Australia, family, and a wonderful loyal clientele. I meet an American gentleman, and that is how I moved my life to the US some 30 years ago.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Hanging with my dad. I grew up on a farm. Wheat, sheep, cows, pigs, and chickens. It was a big farm almost 2,000 acres about 7 hours out of Sydney, Australia.
My primary country school consisted of about 14 kids in the whole school. The school teacher lived with us on the farm.
I never new city life, and living off the farm was what we did. We only bought bread and ice cream. Everything else we grew. We had a big orchard of all kinds of fruits, a large veggie garden, and we ate lamb, chicken, and turkey as we had hundreds of these animals.
My mother made our clothes mostly, and I have three other siblings.
Although I new nothing but farm life, I never felt I was a farm girl. There was nothing feminine about that life. But it was wonderful, and I felt I had a lot of time to think and talk to God.
