Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole & Rachel Swann.
Hi Nicole & Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We are sisters who started taking photos of each other as a hobby in college. Nicole had a photography class and needed a model. Rachel happily volunteered. That started “Swann Sisters” as it is today. Nicole being the photographer and Rachel the model.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! We have thought about changing the whole business model about 3 times. At first, we thought it would be a good idea for Nicole to take photos as just a photography business ex. senior shots, weddings, family, etc. As we continued, Nicole realized she hated that and couldn’t do it as a career. She also at the same time realized she was way more into fashion/editorial content. Rachel thought at first she would be the business side of things, but she quickly realized she liked being in front of the camera. We now have settled into our side of the business pretty well.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are sisters who specialize in fashion/editorial photography. We create content around that niche. Nicole is the photographer; Rachel is the model.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
YouTube is your best friend. Social media outlets in general are your best way to network and connect with people. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people because you never know what can happen.
