Ose, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, I am Ose, and I am a wife, mother, and wellness enthusiast that lives in McKinney Texas with my husband, Chris, and our three children aged 10, 8, and 3.
I own the sugaringLA organic hair removal and facial studio located at the Shops at Legacy in Plano. This studio focuses on organic beauty and skincare that is non-toxic, vegan, and customized to our clients healthy skin journey. We go beyond the surface, to ensure our clients are truly maintaining healthy habits with their skin, either through our in-studio services, or with our earthly care skin products for their home skincare routines. I invested in this business, because I am passionate about offering healthier alternatives that do not compromise on the quality of service, and even excel traditional beauty methods out in the marketplace.
I have had lupus for over two decades which I barely managed, through the years. I had some serious health challenges with my lupus after my second child related to my kidneys, and even though I was on immunosuppressive therapy and high dose steroids, nothing was working. My health changed for the better when I changed my lifestyle and diet to only focus on clean, unprocessed foods and skincare products. I went into remission within a year of my lifestyle change and was able to get off chemotherapy and steroids! I have had a clean bill of health ever since by maintaining a clean lifestyle and reducing my exposure to toxic chemicals, beauty products, and highly-processed foods. My health was so stable, that all my medical specialists cleared us for a third child! We did get blessed with a third child shortly after that – a miracle for our family, because we had been told it wasn’t possible during my crisis.
This entire experience taught me not to discount how much we could be affected by what we put on or into our bodies. I continue to try to live a clean lifestyle, and am very conscious of anything I put on, or inside my body.
This is why I got excited when I finally found a hair removal solution that is focused on being completely organic, hypo-allergenic, clean, and safe – sugaringLA. A solution that is gentler on your skin, not hot, lasts longer, doesn’t cost more than the alternatives, and is healthier for you? It just makes sense. I have been passionately spreading the word since my studio opened in November 2024.
This experience has helped me plant roots in the Plano community, with other businesses and business owners. I hope to continue growing the brand and sharing healthier alternatives to beautiful, smooth skin across Texas!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been the smoothest of journeys to bring sugaringLA to the market. A few challenges we have faced include:
1. The impression that sugaring hurts more than waxing. I have encountered this in multiple conversations from people that went to competitors or other waxing studios, and it does break my heart each time I hear about their experiences. The entire mission of sugaringLA is gentler, healthier, hair removal, and our training and certification programs with our sugarists are extremely rigorous to ensure they understand our trademarked techniques. We have had so many client walk out very surprised about how great the experience and results are, especially if they had previously had a not so great experience elsewhere. Sugaring is not taught in beauty schools. It is therefore a very difficult skill to acquire, and is definitely applied very differently than waxing. Clients that go to waxing studios to get sugared may not be getting the optimal sugaring experience! If you still think sugaring hurts more than waxing, I would encourage you to come give sugaringLA a try before you swear off it!
2. Differentiating our brand from existing competitors. At the very beginning of our opening, our studio got constantly confused with a different brand with a very similar name (but with a different city on the opposite coast from our founding locations in Los Angeles). While we recognize the greater good that sugaring provides to everyone, and are supportive of growing the use of sugaring as hair removal alternatives compared to waxing, our brands, client experiences, and service offerings are very different, and we are happy to co-exist!
3. Balancing a full time corporate job, owning a business, while also being mummy to three precious kiddos! This needs no further explanation 😊

Organic hair removal, facial and body glow services!
I am so proud of quite a few things at my studio:
1. The positive impact we deliver for our clients! For example, we have had clients dealing with challenging skin conditions thinking they could never remove their hair due to sensitive skin issues, fast growing or too thick hair from PCOS, psoriasis, or other skin conditions. We have had clients get so emotional after their sugaring experience due to the smooth, long-lasting results they get. The lemon in our paste as well as the technique provides gentle exfoliation on the skin that does help with challenging conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
2. Our new facials and body glow services! Our clients have been asking for in-studio skin-care thay can help them maintain their healthy skin during, between, and after their sugaring services. We listened, and have now launched facials and body flow services with an amazing clean line of skincare products. Our body glow services focus on any problem areas our client would like some extra loving care on (e.g. bikini line, back, etc.) to help address their skin concerns. We also provide skin boosting enhancements such as gua sha for lymphatic drainage and skin sculpting, red light, and micro-current therapy!
3. The amazing staff that are equally dedicated to making sure every client walks out of our studio feeling fantastic about themselves
4. The clean and serene environment we have created in our studio space! Every client walks in and comments ability how great our studio smalls. Our five star reviews are full of the clean, peaceful ambience we provide. We aim to deliver luxury services in pristine, serene conditions that helps our clients decompress once they walk into our doors!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Plano is special to me because it has such a great mix of different close-knit communities that I have been privileged to meet. It is a thriving city for small business owners that are open and willing to partner and collaborate. I have found such amazing partners in my business ownership journey, such as Shannon Ambrozy from Blo Blow Bar on Preston, or Kelly Morris from Alloy Fitness on West Park Boulevard to name just a few, that are with me on this journey and equally passionate about delivering beauty and wellness to their clients!
