Life & Work with Paige Strahan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Strahan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been a nurse for about 6 years now. I graduated from Texas Tech University with my BSN and then shortly moved to Dallas right after. My journey in nursing started in the emergency department where I went from a novice nurse to a charge nurse and then worked through a pandemic. I absolutely loved being a nurse in the emergency department. It was one of the most humbling, challenging, and purposeful job I could ever ask for. Though I loved being ER nurse, I knew that deep down I always had this passion for aesthetics and art so I decided to go with my gut and try it out! I am now a full-time aesthetic nurse injector and have been with Its A Secret for almost two years. I have absolutely no regrets in my decision to make a career change and have found a deep passion and purpose in my job doing injections!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road throughout this transition but I am thankful for every part of that journey because it brought me to where I am today. The field of aesthetics grows immensely every year and continues to be a competitive field for careers. When I first got my licenses, I was so motivated in finding a job but then the pandemic hit and drastically changed every aseptic of my current situation, as it did for everyone. I didn’t lose sight of my vision though and kept reminding myself that this current situation was just going it be a glimpse in my story. Once the pandemic was over, I was offered an incredible job opportunity in the administrative side of the emergency department at another hospital that I had also been eyeing for a long time. Coincidentally, I received my dream offer of becoming an aesthetic nurse at the same time. For some, it would be a no-brainer. An administrative job in a well-known hospital with an increase in salary pay versus a job where the pandemic could wipe it out at any moment and there was no real promise in the success I would have. It took days of analyzing and seeking advice but I knew that now was the time to step out of my comfort zone and to embark on a journey that I would always yearn for if I didn’t do it now. It’s crazy now to look back and think that one decision could have completely changed the trajectory of my life at this point and I really couldn’t imagine my life any other way!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Aesthetic Nurse Injector. I specialize in full-face profile balancing with the use of dermal fillers, neurotoxin, Kybella, and Sculptra. A normal appointment with me would start with a full-face consult where my client and I assess and discuss facial imbalances and skin integrity, we then build a treatment plan together. My injection style and technique changes with every client depending on facial anatomy and the clients’ goals. I absolutely love building a treatment plan with my client and comparing pictures along the way, it is so rewarding to see the natural changes and enhancements that we can create together to get to the goal we need.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel that focus, passion, and resilience have been some strong factors throughout my success. I am very big on setting goals and making myself aware of a vision in life. Through that, I have had success in many areas whether it be a marathon, a career change, or success in a new industry. Even before engaging in this journey, I made sure that I set down and examined where I wanted to be in the next 10 years, and from that point I trickled down and really focused on what steps I would need to take to get me to my goal. It’s so easy to get distracted by what’s right in front of you and to lose track of what you want in life so when I find myself venturing off, I focus back in on my goals and what intentions I have set for myself. Of course, no journey is ever easy and I have definitely had many setbacks but that’s where resilience comes into play. I’ve learned that a door doesn’t close without another one opening and sometimes we have to be the ones to shut that door so that we can accept what’s to come next. I think many times in my past I have been a victim of trying to do too much and trying to be involved at all things, but most recently I have started to close doors in my life that aren’t in touch with my vision and I truly believe that is why I have these opportunities like I have today.
