Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrece Morrison.
Hi Patrece, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started making jewelry as a hobby, but it developed into a love and passion that I couldn’t let go. I started making fabric jewelry just for fun and for me to wear only. While running errands, attending church, or out on play dates with my kids. Women would always compliment my accessories. After receiving a call from a friend asking how she could purchase my jewelry. I knew this was the beginning of an amazing opportunity. God had opened the door for me to stay home with my children and become a businesswoman too.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been easy. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was the handmade and made-to-order process. I couldn’t make the jewelry fast enough and needed someone to mass produce for me. Being a small business owner you have to work much harder than larger companies. You take on every role in your business i.e. Designer, customer service, quality control, and package handler.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I design and make custom jewelry pieces; I am most proud of my ability to create new and unique jewelry pieces. What sets me apart is the customer can customize their jewelry piece.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
In crisis, you have to flow with it. Make adjustments and keep pressing. adapt to how the industry is moving at that specific time. Being and online-only company it wasn’t hard to adjust during Covid
