Today we’d like to introduce you to Raechel Van Buskirk.
Hi Raechel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My obsession with deviled eggs began back in 2017 while managing a dive bar in Omaha, NE. Long story short i had an epiphany. Everyone loves deviled eggs and no one wants to make them!
I combined my entrepreneurial instincts, 20 years of food and beverage experience with my culinary background and mixed it with an extremely creative mindset.
I started the business in fall of 2017 out of a small kitchen in mid town and fulfilled orders through word of mouth. Word got out and business was great that first holiday season. I continued to develop recipes and work through small kink ovwe the next 3 years while partnering on a few larger food concepts and learning all that i could about business ownership in the process. Then, in 2020 when the world shut down I decided it was time I focus on my dreams.
So, that summer the first small food trailer was purchased and dolled up for outdoor events where we sold pre-made packs of our gourmet deviled eggs. (we only had 6 flavors at the time). Simultaneously we also tested out the wholesale market by selling our deviled eggs through a local grocery chain, coffee shops and sports bars.
Demand was increasing so we decided to find a space to open the first Deviled Egg Shop in November of 2021.
We invested in another larger food truck in spring of 2022 then in the fall just as we were gearing up to launch our nation-wide shipping I was diagnosed with breast cancer… It sucked.
Because of my diagnosis and treatment plan we shifted gears and simply focused the next year on keeping both myself and my small business alive.
After completing treatment I decided that I’d like to live closer to my family who all reside in North Texas (Denison) .
We started searching for spaces to move our full service restaurant and headquarters to and were able to secure a cute corner spot in downtown historical Denison in July of 2023 and opened for business December of 2023.
Since then we have opened our first togo deviled egg shop located in downtown McKinney and re-launched our nation wide shipping. We are now in the process of opening more togo stores in the TX market in Flower Mound, Dallas and Rockwall.
We are looking forward to this year’s growth and cant wait to start franchising in the spring of 2026.

I have always loved to create and share happiness through inspiring others.
I thrive on ideation and discussions of the future.
My dream is to become a mentor for other entrepreneurs and help them navigate business and grow an idea into life. There is nothing more rewarding than employing and empowering others through business. I am the most proud of building the first of something. I’m proud of myself for sticking it out through the really hard times and am proud of the people who have been so instrumental in the growth and success of Deviled Egg Co. No one can be massively successful on their own. It takes many poeple with vastly different talents who believe in you.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Who not how.
Find the who’s instead of tryin to figure out how. This is how I have been able to build and now scale myr crazy deviled egg idea.
