Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricardo Perez.
Hi Ricardo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Well, when comes to Dallas I was booked pretty consistently on the Caribbean scene. One night after an event at a place that was called “Caribbean Grill” we decided to go to the local after-hours (party) a place called Valley View, a rather large Chinese restaurant that kept an African Party, it was the hot spot. Once there some people recognized me and asked if I could do a set, they were aware of my versatility. We will just say it’s good timing, I destroyed the spot and in front of some local big promoters who danced and went crazy to the vibes I provided. I was reached out to rather soon and from then was booked 2-3 times a month in Dallas. Hence why it’s my second home. I love seeing the development of the Afro-Caribbean vibes in Dallas.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, to be honest, it was pretty smooth, the consistency slacked off after the usual process of budget and getting something locally cheaper at times, what seems to be the usual nowadays lol, but still, make regular appearances.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
That’s easy, my authentic versatility and consistency. Some may know and play the known dozen songs in a particular genre, but not many can hold that crown down for hours with authenticity, a true experience.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I would say do you and be yourself till you find out what works for you. It will come, also accept that we can always learn. Big up the Killa Krew, the most versatile Dj in the World whose perfect examples, do what’s right and the right way for the right reasons, and things will come.
