Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Guerra.
Hi Robert, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It began when I was 9 years old, and a strong thought came to me as what will I do to leave my mark on this earth after I’m gone. What would I leave behind for people to know “Robert Guerra” was here. Immediately I thought a photographer, cinematographer, or writer would do the job.
I took black and white darkroom in Junior High, and when I was about 14 years old, I met a portrait photographer and was looking over his equipment and he asked if I had experience and wanted to be a photographer and I quickly said yes to both. He then asked how old I was, and being 14, I knew I was too you and since I was always very tall for my age and looked older, I told him I was 18, and he said ok, and the training began into formal family portrait photography and began shooting on the weekends.
I quickly learned and am still learning my craft and accepted any type of photography jobs I could get.
Weddings, Quinceañeras, any special events. Food, products, mechanical, you name it, I’ve probably have photographed it.
I got to where I am today by doing the best that my clients want me to do. I shoot for them and what their vision is.
I give good customer service and connect to my clients so that they can keep those cherished experiences captured in an image.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been an experience of life. Struggles come from me not accepting the outcomes and fighting to make what I want; I’ve learned to work hard and accept what is given to me. It still a work in progress.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Photographer, Videographer, Event Producer, Magazine Publisher. I’m known for my enthusiasm and word.
I am most proud of my children.
What sets me apart from others? Hmm…willing to go the extra push.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
There are all kinds of silent mentors that I have. I look at what they do and how they do it and do it well. I put no one on a pedestal. There is no human above me or below me. Mutual respect is vital.
If you want a personal mentor, be ready to be guided by their experiences, learn from their journey to make your journey more pleasurable and peaceful.
Networking, to me, is about what I can do for you. How can I benefit you, and how you can benefit me.
There’s always good to come out of networking.
