Life & Work with Ryan Null of Oakland City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Null.

Hi Ryan , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started because of my eighth-grade teacher and her belief that I was born to be a writer. She was the reason I started writing. I loved reading in school and was reading over 300 books a year in middle school. I was challenged to write something unique and original, which became the prequels to The Flare Chronicles. I wrote The Flare Chronicles in high school and told everyone I was going to be a writer. I loved the world that I built. From there, life happened with me having kids and getting married. Two years ago, I decided to take a leap of faith and publish. I was determined for everyone to know my name and my books. I reached out to every bookstore I knew and told the world my story. I have had my ups and downs, but my series has won two awards and I became an international author. I can’t wait to see where the future goes with the four launches this year.

I have four major launches, including one in Australia. On July 1st, three of the launches will happen, including my spicy romantasy series.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but with every dip, it has become a greater high. I was new to the world of publishing and being an author. I had to learn whom to trust, which paths to choose, and, really, the whole thing. It wasn’t something that I knew beforehand or information given to me. I have been humbled by all the people who have helped and shown me the path forward. Rejection is something many authors and people in this world face. One thing I have learned is to cope with rejection and keep going forward because of the belief in my stories and how much they meant to me. I believe finding your inner crowd and people with experience can help make it a smoother road.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have over 10 years of IT experience and have worked for a Toyota supplier. Now I work for a hospital, starting my nursing path. I work as an office assistant and my nursing classes started last weekend. My classes are for RN and CNA. I believe what sets me apart is how much I give to local businesses, youth, and people. I currently have a cover that a 6th grader is designing. I would give my hand and last breath to help anyone in need, which is very important in the nursing field. I am unique in my way of thinking and my long-term vision. I am proud of a lot of things, but I try to stay humble more than being proud. It took more than just me to get me where I am at today.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
YouTube for music when I am writing or needing to clear my head. I have always enjoyed reading fantasy books that take me to another dimension. I enjoy helping others and seeing something grow from nothing to something beautiful.
