Life & Work with Sophia Haddad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Haddad.

Hi Sophia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started with an Instagram post. In the summer of 2021, I saw a post from a previous titleholder from my hometown and learned about the possibility of being a local teen titleholder with the Miss America Organization. I won the title of Miss Frisco’s Teen on August 21, 2022, and stepped into my role ready to serve in my community. I developed my Community Service Initiative “Connecting to Community” which teaches teens actionable boundaries to keep themselves safe online and encourages them to use their digital platforms to make positive change. I’ve been able to serve over 100 hours of community service as a titleholder. I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet several small business owners and highlight them through my feature “Frisco Fridays” on my Instagram.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are hills and valleys in any journey. The first time I walked into the interview room it was following weeks of drilling questions about my Community Service Initiative and current events. Yet, when it was time for my first question, I felt caught off guard between a rush of adrenaline and fear of the unknown. Over time I learned that when I faced the judging panel, they wanted to get to know the real Sophia and hear her perspective, her answers, and most importantly her why.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I definitely would not consider my job a typical one, and I am incredibly blessed to have it! I’ve been able to attend so many wonderful events in the city of Frisco and beyond! I hope that when my year as Miss Frisco’s Teen has come to an end, I will be known for my involvement and commitment as a titleholder. One of the things I am most proud of is my “Frisco Friday” series because it has allowed me to become more connected in my city and meet the people who make Frisco number one!

What’s next?
In the near future, which is crazy to say, I will be competing for the coveted job of Miss Texas’ Teen! It’s taken a lot of determination, grit, and an incredible support system to be just months away from such an important week, but I could not be more excited to step onto the Eisemann Center stage!
