Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarshia Thompson
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up I’ve always had a love for food. Whether it was watching Gordon Ramsey yell at people or watching baking competitions. I use to pretend that I was a contestant and for my first dish ever I made the best eggs. I know what a meal. As I grew older I knew I wanted to create content and that’s when I chose to incorporate my childhood dreams into my content. WhileI had this grand idea to create, like so many others I allowed imposter syndrome to take the front seat and dragged my feet with starting . There are so many amazing creators and influencers that it can be so easy to compare yourself and we shouldn’t do that at all. Your day one will not equate to someone’s day one hundred. Now that our home girl imposter syndrome is taking a back seat, it’s only right I go after what I want. I know many may ask, well how did you get over that hump, and my answer to this is sticking to my affirmation pulls, therapy and most importantly strengthening my relationship with God. It was not an overnight process and I still struggle from time to time, but it is no where compared to how I felt in the beginning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Why I’d love to say my journey has been smooth sailing, it has come with its bumps. When you struggle with imposter syndrome it can weigh you down to a point you have no interest in being creative. With the help of my creative friends and family, I pulled myself out of the space. I knew getting into a routine was the first step I needed to take so I used @ceocoach_matt routine builder. It has helped me get back on track to being consistent and more disciplined. You give each hour or your day a job and adjust accordingly. It truly boils down to what you truly want. Are you willing to sacrifice your time to hang with your people, spend money for knowledge or do extensive research to learn more about your niche? If you give yourself a yes today, and back this up with consistency you can be better positioned to receive what God has for you.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m your content food and lifestyle bestie. I enjoy cooking, trying out new restaurants, sprinkling in my workouts and adventures. Not everyone knows how to cook and I try to keep my videos simple to watch/use and to the point. I do a lot of voiceover videos, but in 2025 I plan to incorporate more talking into the camera videos.
When I say I’m truly proud of myself for stepping into the woman I want to become I mean that. Taking a look back on the videos I created last year until now I see the growth and where I’ve found my voice. I use to have a squeaky high pitch voice that I would use and chileee this is not customer service. Your audience wants to truly see and hear you! I will continue to show up as me and allow my audience in more as I get comfortable.
When it comes to setting myself apart from others I can say I’m truly not against asking for help or investing in a course or coaching sessions to learn more. I had the opportunity to learn from some amazing women @heavyonthecontent @kyndalstewart @iambreham @sheissoloraya @troyiamonay and so many more.
Whether it was learning how to film content in person, teaching in a classroom setting or on a zoom, they helped me with developing my content to where I am today. I am truly grateful to have had an opportunity to learn from them and use the skills in my daily life.
What matters most to you?
There are so many things that matter to me, but my top two are helping others along their journey when I can and showing up as my authentic self no matter the cause. When it comes to helping others it is only right to give back where I can. Prime example, Dee (DeAlvia Hurd) recommended me to you all and when I say I was honored and truly humbled to have this opportunity, I mean it! I did not think I had done enough to deserve such an amazing chance to tell my story, but Dee did. It is my duty to also do the same and lift those around me up!
When it comes to showing up as my authentic self, nobody can be me better than me. I love to have a random outburst of song or dance, I enjoy making those around me laugh and as I peel my layers back daily I plan to continue showing my audience this. Life is too hard/short to always be serious.
My first influencer opportunity came from @PureNRGCyle and it was truly more than a “here’s my deliverables ordeal”. They became family and also helped develop me along my journey of finding my voice. Whether it was a pep talk while cycling or a one on one conversation, they truly my people! I love them so much for that!
