Today we’d like to introduce you to Thaddeus Miller.
Hi Thaddeus, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
A quick re-introduction would be great. It has been over a year since we last has a conversation.
I started to dabble into entrepreneurship in 2018 upon my arrival back to the great state of Dallas in the Amazing country of texas(winking eye face).
It was really something in the air in Dallas everyone was deciding to take a chance on themselves, wanting to be their own boss or be the change in the community their hearts desired. I hopped right onto that train.
My heart was more on the giving back to the communities of Dallas that needed it, the ones I took from, and the ones that gave me the moments that defined who I am.
So with that mindset and environment I got to work on my marathon. Started a non profit organization by the name of Pop Up Comfort.
There were lots of moments It was extremely hard on the JOURNEY. However, I DIDN’T STOP BELIEVING in the mission and most importantly myself.
Today the organization is doing really great and receiving support from across the state. We’ve received our first major grant, joined an pretty legit coalition. The Peoples FREE Food Program.
So long story short.
I got here with help from others around me and a sh** ton of hard work, a endless amounts of sleepless nights , numerous hours outside seeing the mission through, countless heart breaks from what I considers myself not seeing something through. Big smiles from those we help out, radiant faces of kids being able to have toys to play with, the happiness in my soul when the job is done to my standards the pride of knowing I can tell my son i never gave up on myself…
These are a few things that got me here and that will make the KEEP GOING!!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road was very much like driving on an. East Dallas side road. (I love East Dallas for the record).
It’s been like taking Belmont, but then staying on until it turns to Lakewood rd.
The challenges has been staying extremely consistent even when you’re relying 100 percent on your own efforts. You get to see what you are really made of.
Those days when you don’t have anything but know there’s people who need everything. So you go make sire they have something.
Those nights in dangerous areas laying blankets on people so they don’t freeze. Seeing things that souldnt be happening, but you keep going.
Failing your friends when things don’t pan out as planned on the business side of life.
However you end up crossing over Abrams road now you on LakeWood.
Your hard word pays off you are now able to go back to those areas and add light so you can cut down on some of the bad happening in the dark.
You can watch the tears on those eyes that believed in you and you can return that favors 5 times over.
You can put those days in your past and enjoy how smooth the road has become..and if you keep going you just may end up at the lake..
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m still exploring the world of non profits. The work of giving, the work of improving things, people, and whatever you can around you.
I’m putting my effort into feeding Dallas, working with the youth and making my eyes happy( meaning making sure the things around my environment is beautiful).
Twice a month Pop Up Comfort partners with the Oak Cliff Veggie Project, Not My Son, BachmanLakeTogether, The Serun Foundation, United People Coalition, and Goldmark Culture Center and feed and clean communities all over Dallas.
As a unit we give out 1000s of pounds of fresh local produce a month with free farmers markets etc.. We clean various areas throughout the city collecting 100s of lbs of trash.
I try not to be known, my work is known for making people smile, making people full, making people comfortable.
You should get to know it and help me spread the word. Laughing face emoji.
I’m having a great time with some old friends coaching an AAU team. Shout Out to the Vipers.
Pop Up Comfort is still going strong in school throughout the DFW. We just finished up teacher appreciation week. They love when we have TouchedbyLema come out for massages!
I think that sets me apart from a lot of others..give me the work and smiles. I don’t need the personal attention.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Dallas is my favorite city in the country, I did grow up here so there’s that. However out of all the cities I’ve visited throughout the world, the people here get along the best.
We are all invited to each other’s parties, fiestas, bbqs, and Asian gatherings for the most part.
One of the things I dislike about the city is also a reason why this city is so freaking fun and the reason I’m sure so many rich people enjoy being here.. The locals are Pretentious. We all think we’re the main character of this movie rightfully so..but that also so come with tons of big headed ego driven humans..
I also love how fast we drive, so if you not trying to join the race stay on the side road.. JK please drive responsibly!!
