Life & Work with Tiera Gilyard of Royse City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiera Gilyard.

Hi Tiera , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Although I have a couple of businesses: an LLC called H.E.A.L. Solutions, LLC that provides trauma informed education professional development for schools, organizations, and churches. This was birthed after being in education over 10 years and helping at-risk students overcome their traumas and helping them learn resilience. We are currently working on a documentary called, After the Bell, where we’ve followed our students for the past 15 years to see where they are now and how they’ve beat the odds of their home life struggles. Our upcoming screening will be January 3, 2026 at 5:00 PM.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it’s been a 2 year process but our team has worked hard together to complete this project to shed light on after school programs and how it serves as a light in education. After school programs teach students about social and emotional learning through character development and life skill classes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently, I’m working as a principal at a non-profit private school that serves preschool-5th grade students. I am most proud of my accomplishment of receiving my masters in trauma informed education. It’s a passion that I have and love when it comes to trauma. I’ve seen so many students and families grow and become resilient over the years and it gives me absolute joy to see the fruit of their lives and how they’ve beat the odds.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the metroplex, there are so many amazing hidden gems but I do dislike the congestion. It seems so many people are moving here.
