Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomi Fanilola.
Hi Tomi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From as young as 13, I knew I wanted to be a woman of impact — not necessarily on a grand scale, but in a way that touched the life of every woman I encountered, in any shape or form. I grew up in a home filled with love, confidence, and encouragement, which I truly believe laid the foundation for who I am today.
That foundation gave me the courage to start my first business as a hair stylist at just 15 years old, and later expand into makeup artistry after graduating from university in 2011. I went on to build a strong and loyal clientele in London before making the bold move across the pond to Maryland, United States, in 2015 — where I had to start all over again. I did exactly that, successfully rebuilding from the ground up.
Four years later, in 2019, I packed my bags once more and made Texas home. Experiencing three major transitions across countries and states shaped me deeply. While each move came with its challenges, they ultimately strengthened the resilience I have always carried — and reinforced the belief my mother instilled in me early on: that I can do anything I put my mind to.
Wearing many hats wasn’t intentional at first — it happened organically. I’ve always believed people are multi-dimensional, and I’ve never felt comfortable being confined to just one lane. I often jokingly describe myself as a jack of all trades and a master of all.
Alongside my professional career, I’ve walked the path of entrepreneurship as a bridal hair and makeup artist for over 15 years, a coach who empowers women to live their best lives through mindset shifts, fitness, and overall wellness, an MC who brings the vibe and energy to every event, and most recently, a Licensed Texas Realtor committed to helping people buy, sell, and rent smart.
Each “hat” I wear represents a different part of who I am, yet they are all connected by the same core purpose: helping people move forward with confidence, clarity, and intention.
Over time, I’ve come to realize that my experiences — relocating across countries, building businesses, raising a family, leading teams, and stepping fully into entrepreneurship — have uniquely positioned me to guide others through their own seasons of transition and growth.
Today, I stand grounded, confident, and aligned. I’ve built a life across continents, navigated multiple industries, and created a career that reflects both purpose and passion. I am still growing — always — but now I move with clarity and intention. I understand my value, my voice, and my ability to impact others.
Where I am today is the result of years of showing up, learning, failing forward, and choosing not to limit myself to just one version of success.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. Starting over is never easy, and the fear of the unknown is very real. While I was initially excited about the move, that excitement quickly met the reality of having to put myself out there again — allowing people to get to know me, trust me, and choose me. Although the quality of my work spoke for itself, building loyal clients required far more than skill. It demanded unlearning old patterns, relearning within a new culture, and maintaining consistency and a deep commitment to continual improvement.
Throughout my journey in business, there have been many defining moments — moments of uncertainty, moments that required bold decisions, and moments where I had to trust myself even when the path ahead wasn’t clear.
Losing my mother suddenly and tragically in April 2024 shook my world in ways I never could have imagined. She was my biggest cheerleader. Every business venture I pursued, she prayed over. She encouraged me, advised me, supported me, and celebrated my gifts. She often expressed gratitude to God for how skilled I was and for my ability to do so many things well.
Her passing became a pivotal turning point in my life. It led me to retire from hair and makeup after 25 years — not out of loss, but out of a desire to honor my growth and redirect my energy toward new ventures. That transition is what ultimately led me to real estate, a path that had long intrigued me and now allows me to serve others in a new, meaningful way.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
