Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Hitt.
Hi Travis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career serving five years in the U.S. Army as a Black Hawk Crew Chief, and that experience shaped a lot of who I am today. It taught me discipline, accountability, teamwork and the importance of showing up for the people around you.
After the military, I became a licensed Realtor in 2012. What started as a new career quickly became something I truly loved because real estate gave me the opportunity to serve people during some of the biggest moments of their lives.
Since then, I’ve been fortunate to help more than 500 families, build The Hitt Group, become a consistent top producer in DFW and step into a leadership role with Bray Real Estate Group/Compass in North DFW. I’m proud of the growth, but what means the most to me is the trust people have placed in me along the way.
At the end of the day, I’m still driven by the same things: serving people well, keeping my word, working hard and building a life and career that my family can be proud of.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. No matter how much I wish I could say it was, I am thankful for the road traveled. I was not taught about anything business as a kid or early adulthood. I went through financing struggles which can boil over into all areas of life. I have struggled with learning balance between work and family as a lot of full time realtors have. I have questioned being good enough to lead a team when I started the Hitt Group. There have been many bumps in the road but am blessed to have amazing people in my corner no matter what I have been through.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I’m most proud of isn’t a sales number or an award, it’s the trust I’ve built with people. Real estate has allowed me to work with everyone from first time buyers to luxury clients, investors and families navigating some very complicated situations. I love the strategy and negotiation side of the business, but I think what sets me apart is how personally I take the responsibility of representing someone.
I believe my job is to give people clarity, tell them the truth even when it isn’t what they want to hear, and fight for their best interest. I never want a client to feel like they were just another transaction.
I’m also incredibly proud of building The Hitt Group and having the opportunity to lead other agents. Seeing people around me grow, succeed and serve their own clients at a high level has become one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
At the end of the day, I want to be known as someone who worked hard, kept his word and genuinely cared about the people he served.
How do you think about luck?
I’ve definitely had moments of both good and bad luck, but I’ve learned that a lot of what looks like luck from the outside is really timing, preparation and being willing to take a chance when an opportunity shows up.
I’ve had doors open at the right time, met people who have changed the trajectory of my career and been given opportunities I never could have planned. I’ve also had plenty of deals fall apart, setbacks and seasons where things didn’t go the way I thought they should.
Looking back, some of the “bad luck” probably taught me more than the good. It forced me to become more resilient, adaptable and better at what I do. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given, but I also believe you have to put yourself in a position to do something with them when they come.
