Life & Work with Traydale of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Traydale.

Hi Traydale, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a 39-year-old Dallas artist with 34 years of creative experience I have built a life-shaped by relentless curiosity and artistic exploration. Beginning as a child with a passion for drawing, I grew into a multidisciplinary creative with work that spans short stories, poetry, painting, graphic design, photography, and even a brief venture into tattooing. My artistic journey reflects both dedication and versatility – moving fluidly between visual and written mediums, always seeking new ways to express the emotion, identity, and imagination. Today, my diverse skill set forms a rich, interconnected tapestry that defines my story as a lifelong creator.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe any road in life is smooth unless you’ve had the fortune of it being set up that way by those that came before you. Even then, life finds a way, as Dr. Malcolm said. My road is no different. I have had pebbles, potholes, cobblestones, and smooth tar covered stretches. Along the way; finances, resources, motivation, and technique have been easy to find or create and also impossible to imagine.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As of right now I don’t have an overarching thing that began when I started and has stretched all the way up through to today. Except that of how I’m feeling and what I’m experiencing at the time. Right now I’m trying to harness the feeling of putting my emotions and myself into my work in a way that can be felt by the viewer. I had noticed that when I care more about the work when I paint and draw and create for myself the viewer tends to get more out of what I’ve created. It’s as though my energy literally reaches through the canvas or the piece and pulls them in and that’s a magnificent feeling that I’d like to experience consistently. I’m also concerned about making it a point to explain the inspiration of each piece and write it on the piece so that long after I’m gone there’s no lengthy, confusing discussions about what I meant, why I made it, and how it came out. I specialize in recreating my memories and experiences on a physical surface via words or images. I’m most proud of being. I could have stopped long ago, but I keep creating. The same thing sets me apart from others as what system apart from myself we are all individuals and therefore unique by design.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I’m not yet sure what the most important lesson has been, but one of my favorites is sometimes the fastest way to get where you’re going is to slow down.
