Today, we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Hynes.
Hi Veronica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This journey started in 2020. I believe that was the year of the start of a lot of Entrepreneurs/Business Owners. The lockdown allowed me to evaluate my life and goals. It allowed me to slow down and enjoy the moments. The freedom to learn more about this busy person I’ve become.
During that time, I was able to dig deep within myself and truly ask myself what I wanted, who I wanted to be, and why I wanted it. I realized I was chasing a career because it’s what you do, “get a college degree.” I wasn’t feeling it anymore, so I said it and went all in to do Permanent Makeup with zero knowledge of business. I went back to work and spent most of my paycheck to buy furniture and supplies for my business.
Fast forward to today, all the networking, marketing, and meaningful connections I’ve made when networking helped get me connected to the people I needed to talk to who are in my niche. You definitely need to put in a lot of work when starting up. Stay consistent, and never doubt yourself.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
I wish it was a smooth road! As business owners, we have good months and bad months. One year started so well, but then it died once summer hit. It felt like I could not book one person. I was so devastated I thought I was going to close my business. I cried a lot in those months.
I didn’t want to ask for help because of my pride. My husband then transferred my money and said to pay my rent and keep my business open. I’m so blessed to have his support, but now I feel like a failure, and that feeling sucks. I was too comfortable! I grew up poor; my hustle was deep, and I strived for a better life. I live the life I strive for but get too comfortable.
I needed this failure to open my eyes and never allow this to happen again. I took action and ensured I didn’t waste time on anything that didn’t benefit my business. That led to my partnership with Baylor in Dallas and Operation Smile.
With every failure, there’s a win!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a cosmetic and paramedical tattoo artist. I offer Nano brows, Powder brows, Combo brows, Lip Blushing, Lip Neutralizing, and Lash Enhancement Liner. For paramedical tattoos, I offer Scalp Micropigmentation, Scar/Stretch Mark Rejuvenation, and 3D Areola Restoration.
I am known as the “boobie” girl, lol. My main service is 3D Areola Restoration. I help breast cancer survivors by tattooing back the nipple and areola. This career is so rewarding and fulfilling. I am very proud of my accomplishments as the 2023 Best PMU clinic in Rockwall, as well as my partnership with Baylor and Operation Smile.
The goal is to partner with 50 locations by the end of the year! It will also help to grow the paramedical tattoo industry with 3D Areola training that is now available for anyone interested.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Do not get comfortable!! Becoming comfortable stops your growth. Have a plan and execute it. Go all in, even if you’re scared. Most importantly, don’t give up even when times get hard.
