Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Ribeiro.
Hi victoria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I didn’t always have a clear picture of where I was going. What I did know from an early age was that I was creative, ambitious, and never really interested in fitting into just one box. I was drawn to acting, and I loved making videos, whether it was in front of the camera or behind. At the time, I didn’t realize those interests were giving me the foundation for the career I would eventually build.
As a Ghanaian/ Togolese- American, with a mother from Waskom, Texas, and an immigrant father, and a I grew up surrounded by different cultures and perspectives. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, raised in Mansfield, Texas and later moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma as a teenager, I experienced several major transitions at a young age. Each move challenged me to adapt to new environments, step outside my comfort zone and build new friendships. Those experiences shaped me into someone who is resilient, adaptable and comfortable creating a sense of community wherever I go.
Today I find myself in a season of becoming. Building a career and life that reflects all the different parts of who I am. What once felt like a collection of unrelated interests has started to come together in a way that makes sense: marketing, creativity, acting, modeling, wellness and content creation.
I’ve realized that I don’t have to choose one identity or one path. I can build a career and life that allows all of these things to exist together.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey hasn’t been without setbacks and some of the hardest moments came at times when I was still figuring out who I was and what I was capable of. Academically, I was never the student who naturally excelled in school. I had to work hard and put the effort in. Not only was I a huge procrastinator, but I struggled to see myself as the “smartest” or as a traditionally successful student, and for a while, that affected how I viewed my own potential. I had to learn that being good at something doesn’t always show up in a classroom or a report card. That realization helped me to highlight my strengths in creativity, communication, relationships, problem solving and seeing the bigger picture.
Losing my aunt, who was a second mother to me, unexpectedly, in January 2024, was another experience that deeply impacted me. Grief has a way of changing your perspective and reminding you how precious life really is. Her passing was incredibly difficult and I still experience moments of sadness, but it also made me think about the life I want to live and the things I don’t want to take for granted.
Then there were the smaller rejections that, at the time, didn’t feel small at all. Modeling has been a career that I’ve been pursuing for the past few years and there have been many moments when I wasn’t chosen or was rejected for opportunities that I really wanted. It was hard not to take those decisions personally. When you put yourself out there creatively, rejection can make you question whether you’re good enough or if you belong in the room.
Over time, though, I realized rejection isn’t always a reflection of your worth. Sometimes it’s simply redirection. Those experiences taught me to keep showing up, continue improving and stop allowing someone else’s decision to determine how I see myself. And whenever they circle back and reach out, (because they always will) I’m charging a big fee!
Each of these experiences shaped a different part of me and helped me build my resilience. None of these moments were easy, but they helped create the person I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally I’ve grown from working in restaurants and nightlife to graduating from Oklahoma State University and working in digital marketing into a broader role focused on communications, social media strategy, public relations and branding. Currently, I am working in corporate communications as the Marketing and Communications Manager for Dallas Black Dance Theatre. At the same time, I’m building V Rich Studio, my own creative marketing agency, with the goal of helping brands become more recognizable, elevated and impactful.
Outside of my career, I’m continuing to develop my own personal brand and explore the things that genuinely excite me, from modeling to wellness and content creation and igniting my passion for acting. Also building myself as a philanthropist, serving on the Board for Alpha Kappa Alpha Beta Mu Omega Chapter nonprofit, Raising the Standard Foundation.
What’s next?
There is a lot I am looking forward to in this next chapter. My online boutique, Venus Venci just launched, which is another way for me to combine my love for fashion, creativity and entrepreneurship. I also have several acting projects in the works, and I’m excited to continue growing in front of the camera and taking on roles that challenge me creatively.
On the business career side, I am focused on continuing to grow V Rich Studio and working with more brands and clients to help them elevate their presence through strategy, storytelling and creative marketing. My goal is to scale my agency and eventually hire the next generation of professional creatives. I am also interested in expanding my work within the sports industry, an area I’ve been wanting to explore professionally.
And of course, I’m looking forward to continuing to build my modeling career and taking on more opportunities that allow me to work with exciting brands and creatives. My ultimate dream is to become a signed model with a reputable agency in Miami or LA.
More than anything, I’m learning to be intentional about the life I’m creating. I am no longer just focused on reaching the next milestone; I am focused on building something that feels authentic, creatively fulfilling, and lasting. I’m not limiting myself to one path. I want to continue creating, building and putting myself in rooms that challenge me to grow. This chapter feels less about proving what I can do and more about discovering just how far I can take it.
