Life & Work with Victoria Taiwo of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Taiwo.

Hi Victoria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
About three years ago, I found myself in one of the darkest seasons of my life. I was coming out of a domestic violence relationship and a broken engagement, and carrying a deep sense of fear, shame, uncertainty, and loss. Everything felt fragile. I knew I needed a fresh start, so I made the difficult decision to leave the East Coast and relocate to Dallas, Texas.
While the move created space for healing, it also surfaced a new kind of loneliness. As I began rebuilding my life and my faith, I realized that my community had changed, and so had I. I no longer fit into the spaces I once belonged to, and there were moments when walking with God felt incredibly isolating. I longed for community, for women who loved Jesus, for prayer that wasn’t done alone, for faith that was lived out together.
One day, in a moment of complete surrender, I was sitting on my couch crying, overwhelmed by everything I had been carrying. In that moment, I felt the Lord speak clearly to my heart: “The community you are looking for, you will need to create.” At the time, I had no idea what that would mean, but I held onto it.
In April 2023, I took a small step of faith and hosted my first brunch in my apartment with a few women I had met along the way in Dallas. We talked, prayed, laughed, shared our stories, and broke bread together. What felt simple and intimate quickly revealed something much deeper: I wasn’t alone in my longing. Other women were also searching for safe, faith-filled community and genuine connection.
That gathering led to our first book Bible study in June 2023, which marked the official beginning of Women of the Garden a non-profit organization. What started with just 12 women in my living room has grown into a thriving ministry of over 50 women, each seeking community, and a deeper relationship with Christ.
Nearly two years later, I can clearly see the hand of God in every step. The Garden was born out of brokenness, obedience, and a simple “yes,” and it continues to grow as a place where women are rooted in faith, seen, supported, and transformed together.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. In many ways, the biggest struggles have been internal. Because of my past and the things I’ve endured, I’ve often wrestled with feelings of inadequacy, wondering why the Lord would choose me for this work or if I truly belonged in this space.
I’ve had to confront perfectionism along the way, sometimes feeling the need to “get everything right” to compensate for my past or to prove that I belong. Stepping into ministry can be intimidating, especially when you encounter women who have been in this world their entire lives. I came from a completely different background, and there were moments when I felt like I was navigating unfamiliar territory, learning as I went, and trusting that what I heard from God was truly His voice.
Yet time and time again, God has been faithful in affirming the call. Every event, every Bible study, and every moment where a woman experiences healing or breakthrough reminds me that this was never about my qualifications, it was about obedience. Those moments serve as confirmation that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Even now, almost two years later, I have to continually remind myself not to lean on my own understanding. Proverbs 3:5–6 has become an anchor for me, trusting the Lord with my whole heart and believing that if He called me, then I belong. His grace has proven to be more than sufficient, even on the bumpiest roads.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Many people would describe my life as abundantly full, and I would agree. By profession, I work as a healthcare consultant in cancer care. Alongside that, I am a full-time seminary student, deeply invested in theological education and spiritual formation. I also lead Women of the Garden, a women’s ministry rooted in faith, healing, and authentic community. Beyond titles, I’m committed to showing up fully in every role God has entrusted to me: as a friend, a sister, a daughter, and most importantly, as a child of God.
What I specialize in, both professionally and personally, is building meaningful systems and spaces where people can grow, whether that’s within healthcare, ministry, or community. I’m known for bringing people together, creating environments that are both beautiful and honest, and helping women feel seen, supported, and spiritually grounded.
What I’m most proud of is being a living example of transformation. I truly believe I am a walking testimony that life does not have to stay the same. You are not required to remain in places, patterns, or relationships that no longer serve you. With faith, courage, and obedience to God, real and lasting change is possible.
What sets me apart is that I live that belief out loud. I don’t just speak about abundance, I pursue it. I don’t just talk about healing, I’ve done the work. My life reflects the truth that with God, you can rebuild, reimagine, and become something entirely new. And if my life reminds even one woman that she deserves joy, purpose, and a full life, then I know I’m walking in exactly what I’ve been called to do.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck, and I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe in the sovereignty of the God I serve. Because of that, I can’t really speak to luck as a driving force in my life or work. What I can say with certainty is that the hand of God is woven into every aspect of my life, and that has made all the difference.
