Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Cochran.
Hi Victoria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
All my life, I have been super intrigued by all things beauty and fashion, and when social media became a popular phenomenon, I was interested in that as well. In college, my major was Communications Media with a concentration in production. My studies I learned how I could take my platforms and create them into sources of income. Being able to take something I love and do on a day-to-day basis and make an income is a dream come true.
On my Instagram platform, I create a space for individuals to find inspiration through my fashion, beauty, and lifestyle posts. I interact daily with my followers in order to ensure that I am continuously posting things that interest them. By posting frequently, I show my followers how to stay trendy while still maintaining your individuality. My Youtube Channel is where I teach my subscribers how to apply their makeup and beauty techniques. I provide hair tutorials, as well as fashion and lifestyle tips/skills. My subscribers enjoy learning how to be a “Baddie on a Budget” through my makeup and fashion tips. Although I am not where I picture myself yet in my Influencing career, I cannot wait to see where God takes me in the years to come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle with being a Micro-Influencer/content creator would have to be at times where you have a creator’s block or, as some people call it, “Burnout.” A lot of times, after being super consistent and putting out FIRE content, it is easy to find yourself in a place where you are mentally drained and cannot seem to think of new and unique content to produce. It can be very discouraging, especially when those around you in your community are still producing and being consistent. The best advice I can give to someone experiencing this is to simply allow yourself to truly rest and take a break. Do not allow yourself to get too comfortable in that break, so during your break, make sure you’re writing down ideas that come to mind so that when you are well-rested and ready to produce that you already have ideas on standby.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Being a content creator is not as simple as those may think. I am a content creator of the beauty community, and the categories are extremely VAST. So before deciding to be a content creator of this community, you must know your niche. My niche being makeup, hair, and fashion. People can take a look at my content and visually see what kind of content I produce. I would say my followers and subscribers would say I am known for my hair tutorials, fashion hauls, and my cute transitions on TikTok/Instagram reels (lol). As of lately, I would say I most proud of my consistency and my progress with my Instagram feed. I have started a new way of how I post things on there. I have created various color schemes that last for a few weeks at a time. What sets me apart from others would have to be my genuine flare on what I create, as well as my ability to be trendy but also be myself. In a world where social media has made a lot of w0men want to change themselves to “fit in” to the new beauty norm, I make sure to also remind women that it is okay to still want to be yourself and not feed into the pressures of society and if you do want to change something to do it for the satisfaction of yourself and not others.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was an outgoing, adventurous diva (lol). I always tell people I was a “TOMGIRL” because although you would more than likely see me climbing trees and riding four-wheelers, I was still wearing a skirt and pink hair bows while doing it lol. So beauty and fashion was never something I just all of a sudden got into. I have also had a passion for it. I was born into it.
