Life & Work with Vixx of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vixx

Hi Vixx, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been interested in pop-culture, and interested in cosplay. I had the chance to go to my very first comiccon ever in 2016 at Lousisiana Comiccon. This was a perfect time to jump into cosplay. I started off with some closet cosplays ( these are cosplays made from things you already own). One thing led to another, and I loved it the more I learned about crafting. I’ve always known how to sew, learning from my grandmother. Each skill I learned about cosplay, drew me more into the world. By 2017, I was being invited out as a cosplay guest. I’ve been guesting as a cosplay consecutively since 2017.
In 2020, the worlds that included comiccons, closed to help protect against spreading Covid-19. I felt this void that was left when we couldn’t gather and meet. When making my username, I knew that I wanted to do more with it and wanted to include other content paths when naming my accounts. Streaming had always been in the back of my mind and I wasn’t sure how or when to get started. 2020 provided a perfect time to learn and get it all set up! I deeply missed the community part of cosplay, expanding my online community to streaming felt natural. I had no idea that this would be one of the best decisions of that year. I’m proud to lead a carrying, positive, and growing community. I’ve made so many friends through streaming and have had even more opportunities due to my community and streaming.
Now you can normally catch me streaming anything from art, crafting cosplay, or RPG style games on Twitch; cosplaying, and educating people about content creation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It been no smooth road. Content creation rarely is. I like to relate it a rollercoaster! It has ups and downs, it’s rewards and draw backs.
It takes a lot of hardwork and no everyone will understand what you’re doing. Your family and friends might not get it or support you. It takes so many hidden hours behind the scenes to create, edit, sew, etc.

For me the biggest struggle was just not knowing what was okay and what wasn’t. There weren’t a lot of resources about guesting as a cosplayer or what to expect as a content creator. No one was talking about it. Starting off at first, I had no idea about pricing and worth of a cosplayer; I ran into a lot of conventions that wouldn’t pay cosplay guests for their services. I had no idea what was a good or bad contract either. I’m thankful that I was quick to make friends in the space that uplifted me and we all educated ourselves with shared experiences. I hope to share these experiences now so that others don’t have to make the same mistakes I made starting out.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Vixx, a content creator, streamer, mental health advocate, and long-time cosplayer. I specialize in RPGs, adventure games, art, and cosplay, streaming under the name PixelVixx. My community is called the PixelVerse, is a cozy yet chaotic space with a cyberpunk fantasy aesthetic—a place where storytelling and creativity thrive.

What sets me apart is my passion for creating immersive experiences, whether through roleplay, voice acting on my streams, or diving into the lore and characters of the games I play. Outside of streaming, I have nearly a decade of experience as a cosplay guest, host, and judge at conventions. I especially love crafting original designs in cosplay, blending creativity and storytelling to bring unique visions to life.

I’m also deeply committed to being a mental health advocate and fostering a safe, inclusive environment where people feel supported and valued. I’m incredibly proud of how the PixelVerse has grown into a vibrant, welcoming community full of passionate and creative individuals. It’s amazing to see people bond over shared interests while finding a space where they can laugh, geek out, and feel seen.

At the heart of what I do is a dedication to authenticity, creativity, and meaningful connections. Whether it’s exploring the rich world of Baldur’s Gate 3, sharing laughs in Final Fantasy XIV, experimenting with cosplay, or voicing characters during gameplay, I’m here to celebrate the joy of gaming, storytelling, and creativity with others.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Whether it’s attending conventions, joining online forums, or participating in Twitch chats, immerse yourself in spaces where like-minded people gather. By actively engaging, you naturally build connections over shared interests.

If there’s someone whose work inspires you, send them a kind and thoughtful message. Highlight what you admire about their work and ask a specific question or seek advice. People appreciate genuine admiration and are often happy to share insights when approached respectfully.

Networking isn’t just about asking for help; it’s about building mutual relationships. Share their work, offer feedback, or find ways to contribute to their projects. Being supportive shows that you care about what they do. It’s best to view this more as making friends first then “networking” second. Building meaningful connections is more important than simply knowing a lot of people. Take the time to nurture relationships by keeping in touch, celebrating others’ successes, and being there when they need support.
