Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Stegall.
Hi Will, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been musically inclined, but things really picked up for me when my family members got me my first instrument, a bright red Epiphone bass guitar that I still play to this day! My passion for the trumpet carried me through my years as a school kid. From there, I finally took the plunge and started doing singer/songwriter open mics in my twenties. As you can tell, I haven’t stopped since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No one that has met me in the past decade would believe it, but I’m an incredibly anxious person! This used to make it challenging to perform solo to an audience. Taking my mental health seriously and always striving to be my authentic self on and off stage have helped so much.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
One of my friend’s kids described me as “the guy that sings (deepens voice) White Wedding,” and I couldn’t be happier with that description of my work! Most people know me for my bombastic covers. I’m really proud of how much my songwriting has evolved too! The stop motion animation for my music videos gets better and better with each iteration, too. In an increasingly digital world, I do my best to incorporate physical media into my works. My world runs on paper, paint, wood, and a whole lot of patience!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’m a thrill seeker, through and through. The rush of the stage and the feeling of enhancing other people’s lives through my art brings me immense joy.
