Today we’d like to introduce you to Wolf McNeil.
Hi Wolf, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in love with the art of tattooing since I could remember. My father used to be a tattoo artist as well when I was first born. I’ve been getting tattoos since I was 16, I’m almost 30 now. Every tattoo session, I paid attention to everything from the set up to how the tattoo was done. I purchased my first machine in 2022, but my daughter was born that year as well so I gave up my dream and stuck to what would make me money right away. In 2023, after leaving my job as a vet assistant, I started taking tattooing seriously. I took online classes to work on my art and by the end of the year, in October, I was in my first tattoo shop.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not haha. I had to build a clientele and basically gain trust from friends as well as strangers to let me tattoo them. There were times I got depressed and wanted to give up for sure. But something told me to keep pushing, now I have dope clients who trust me to bring their visions to life
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a tattoo artist that specializes is mostly black and grey work. I am most proud of my tattoos/art and my clients that have turned into family. What sets me apart is that when you come to me, you’re not just getting a tattoo. You’re getting a therapy session as well.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite apps is Pinterest, YouTube, and procreate. My other resources are my peers. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am now without them
