Life & Work with Word Life

Today we’d like to introduce you to Word Life.

Hi Word, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a kid in the Bronx, I used to always be around a diverse influence of music. My older brother and pops used to play the congas (Puerto Rican drum) and other Puerto Rican instruments on the block and family parties. Hip Hop was started in the Bronx, and the influence was almost on every corner. I was always shy about rapping but when I turned 15 one of my brothers put me on the spot in front of everybody and after that, I knew I wanted to do this the rest of my life. At the time my mom was living in Dallas, Tx doing major plays with her church. One Year I came to visit her and got in a little bit of trouble with The police where i ended up arrested and on a year probation shortly after. I brought my New York Hustle to Dallas and started to meet local artists, promoters, and celebrities all around the city. My first in-studio recording and on-stage performance happened while on probation so afterwards i decided to stay in Dallas permanently. I recently released two singles, “Get That” and “Smoke” which were picked up on Eminem’s Shade45 by one of the Nation’s Biggest Dj crews “The Heavy Hitters.” I’ve carved my name in these Dallas streets, and the city took me in as one of their own, so lately, I’ve been finding ways to Pay it forward to the community by doing free giveaways for my fans and also feeding the homeless and those in need.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I face trials and tribulations every day from industry to regular life. I’ve lost family and close friends through this journey. Without label support, management or major team it’s not easy for an Independent artist to do it on his own. I continue to sacrifice relationships, time, energy, and effort everyday. My motto has always been “Grind Til I Get That,” and the fans/supporters keeps me motivated and inspired to keep going no matter what.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am getting ready to launch my next Single “Magic City,” and the video was shot by firsteyemedia at “Xr214” on a huge led wall soundstage; it’s some next-level technology called Virtual Production, and they are the first in Dallas pioneering the tech which makes me the first Artist inside of Dallas to have a video with this type of quality. Recently was featured on The Source Magazine and other major publications. I’m also the owner of my clothing brand “King of all Fresh” so stay tuned for what’s to come!
