Linda Anuku shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Linda, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My family brings me joy as always and their motivation keeps me going. spending quality time with my children. keeps me gives me so much joy. Also reading my Bible consistently and meditating on the scriptures especially Psalm 23 and Psalm 91. Focusing on my health lets me show up even stronger for my customers.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the CEO of LINAHOPES Trading company a clothing brand located in Tx. Linahopes tailors African prints into different styles for women and children. We sketch and design Ankara material’s into unique styles that make women step out bold and beautiful. Our styles are exquisite, and very comfortable.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My late dad and mom are my mentors. They taught me that with God anything and everything is possible. My dad passed away at a very young age and my mom raised my siblings and I with her great faith in God and hard work. From 8am to 5pm she was the only female dealer at the Leventis Motors in Nigeria and in the evening she sold pepper soup a Nigerian delicacy at her restaurant. My mom will get home as late as 2 am in the morning sleep for a few hours and get up at 6am to get ready for her morning job. She showed me the importance of hard work.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
After my mom passed away in 2005 I thought that my world had collapsed. I had just graduated from college and had plans to get a job and start a business with my mom. I thank God for giving me the zeal power and vision to start LINAHOPES using the gift of design that He has bestowed in me. Thank You Jesus.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My close friends know that God is my all and that my children and family matter the most to me.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
People will say that I am a Soldier of Jesus Christ. My deep love for God and a prayer warrior.
