We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mark Johnson. Check out our conversation below.
Mark, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Who are you learning from right now?
At this point, I am learning from my clients and my students. When I work with Past Life Regression, Quantum Healing Hypnosis and Life Between Lives clients, there are aha moments that surface throughout the session. These may come from my client’s experiences during the session or from their higher self, spirit guides and others in spirit.
When it comes to students, I feel they are constantly challenging me with questions and situations that require me to think on my feet both to help with the specific situation as well as to help them learn more. My students don’t just learn how to work with clients during the training, they also have an opportunity to experience the work from the client’s perspective. It’s part of the learning process as the students trade sessions with each other in order to reinforce what they are learning.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Mark Johnson, and I’ve been working with hypnosis and past life regression since 2003, though in many ways it still feels like I’m just getting started. I continue to learn and evolve with every session I guide and every student I teach. Over the last six months, I’ve found myself doing more client sessions than ever before. Something about the energy right now seems to be calling people to go deeper, to connect with something more meaningful, more spiritual. It’s been powerful, and honestly, it’s also inspired me to increase awareness around the training side of what I do.
My hypnosis and past life regression training has always been hands-on and experiential, because that’s how people really learn this work. But recently I developed something new, an advanced training called Spiritual Connection and Communication. It’s for students who are already guiding past life sessions and are ready to take things further. This process helps them support their clients in connecting more fully with their higher self, spirit guides, and even loved ones on the other side, all within the session itself. It’s the kind of work that transforms not just the client, but the practitioner too.
Outside of the sessions and training room, my wife and I moved out to the country a few years ago, we left the city behind in 2021. We’ve been settling into a slower pace of life, surrounded by dogs, cats, chickens, and a whole lot of birdsong. There’s something deeply grounding about living in rhythm with the land, and I find it brings a kind of peace that weaves into the sessions I offer and the space I hold for others.
So whether someone finds me because they’re searching for healing, a deeper sense of purpose, or even just clarity on their path, I’m here for that. And I’m excited to keep doing this work and to continue teaching others who feel called to guide it as well.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a kid, I wanted grow up to be a magician. I loved the idea of creating wonder, of surprising people, and making them feel something unexpected. That dream eventually gave way to music. I studied it in college, and after graduating, I spent 12 years teaching class piano, keyboard, and organ. This was right around the time the first portable keyboards were hitting the market, so it was an exciting time to be immersed in that world.
And while I never became a magician in the traditional sense, there’s a part of me that never let go of that early fascination with transformation. Music gave me a way to express that for many years. Later in life, I followed in my father’s footsteps. He was guiding people into past lives back in the 1960s, and I had the privilege of watching him work as a child. That planted a seed in me. Eventually, it grew into a calling I couldn’t ignore.
When my mother passed in 2003, I felt drawn to learn hypnosis and past life regression and begin helping others heal, explore, and connect with the deeper layers of who they really are. As a child, I believed magic came from tricks and illusions. Now I see it differently. I’m not a magician, but what I do can feel like magic in its own way. When someone releases fear that has held them back for years, or reconnects with a part of themselves they thought was lost, something truly shifts. Helping people move forward with confidence, clarity, and peace. That’s the real magic I get to be part of every day.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes, my grandmother always listened to me. She was an amazing woman. I used to spend the night with her often, and in her later years my dad set her up in her own little place on our property, so she was always nearby. When my pants were torn, I’d bring them over to her. She’d patch them up, but more importantly, she always made time to talk. She listened. Really listened. That connection meant a lot to me growing up.
One time I started talking to her about the American flag. A few weeks later, she gave me an afghan she had crocheted, complete with stars and stripes. That was just the kind of person she was. Quiet, thoughtful, and deeply present.
Years later, just before my dad passed, I was visiting him and he showed me a box of books that had belonged to her. He wanted to send them to me, and I said sure, not knowing what was inside. When I opened the box, the first thing I found was an old magic book we had as kids. Then I reached her collection.
There were books like The Aliens Have Landed, Spiritualism by Arthur Conan Doyle, You Can Remember Your Past Lives by Edgar Cayce, and several others that took me by surprise. I had no idea she had been interested in any of that. At first I wondered if they were really hers. Then I looked inside the covers and found her name and address, stamped in that neat, old-fashioned way. For someone born in 1896, she was remarkably open-minded and curious.
Looking back, it makes sense. She always saw me for who I was, even when I didn’t fully know myself. And she listened, not just with her ears, but with her heart. That quiet presence shaped me more than I realized at the time.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Reincarnation, is it a valid idea?
I’ve spent years guiding people into past life memories, and I’ve seen what unfolds when someone reconnects with another time, another body, another life. The emotion, the healing, the clarity. It’s not something you can stage or script. It comes from somewhere deep. Somewhere real. And yet, can I prove it? No. But I don’t need to.
People often ask, “Is reincarnation more scientific or spiritual?” I think it depends on how you’re looking at it. Science is always evolving, constantly reaching for better explanations and clearer data. And that’s important. But there are some truths that live in the realm of experience, not measurement. That’s where spirituality comes in.
I don’t believe science and spirituality have to be at odds. One seeks evidence. The other explores meaning. Neither is right or wrong. They are simply different languages trying to describe the same mystery. And when it comes to reincarnation, I think the real question isn’t whether we can prove it. It’s whether we’re willing to explore it.
Do we have to have proof to believe that past lives are real? Not necessarily. Some people come to this work with curiosity. Others with skepticism. And many with a deep sense of knowing they can’t explain. What matters is what happens in the session. What shifts. What heals. What returns to wholeness.
For me, reincarnation isn’t about belief. It’s about experience. It’s about what people remember, what they release, and how they grow. And over time, that becomes its own kind of truth.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
That’s an interesting question, I’d have to answer Yes, let me explain. Growing up, most of us are told what to do. We follow in the footsteps of a parent. We take the expected path. In my case, I feel like the answer is both. I am doing what I was told to do, but not in the usual sense. And I’m absolutely doing what I was born to do. I just didn’t recognize it at the time.
Back in 2003, when my mother passed, I was working as a programmer in a corporate office. I had no thoughts of hypnosis or spiritual work at the time. But after the funeral, I was back home and ran into an old girlfriend. She told me she had gone to a hypnotist for weight loss, and during the session her spirit guide showed up and started talking to her. She remembered my dad had been a hypnotist, and that he used to guide people into past lives, so she wanted to share the story.
When she said that, something clicked. I thought I had a brilliant idea. what popped into my head was, I want to learn hypnosis so I can talk to my mom. That’s how it sounded in my mind. I want to talk to Mom. It felt like my idea, and it took over my life. I went all in. I became obsessed with learning everything I could about hypnosis. I hadn’t taken a formal class yet, but I started studying online, reading everything, watching videos, diving deep. One day my dad said, you never told me you were taking a class. I told him I wasn’t. I was just learning online. He couldn’t believe how much I had picked up.
The next year, I took my first hypnosis training. There was a point where it seemed like I might be blocked from completing the class because of my job, but then a door opened. Almost like magic. I kept going. Over the years I took more classes. My job as a programmer paid the bills, and it supported what became a full-blown addiction to hypnosis, past life regression, and Life Between Lives work.
And then something even more powerful happened. A woman came in for a session not long after my father passed. She asked if he had passed. I said yes and we continued with her session. Later I found out that is a medium. That woman later became my wife. Ten years to the day after my mother passed, we were both inworking in New Orleans. She sent me a text that morning asking if it was my mom’s birthday. She said she could feel her presence very strongly. I told her that this was the 10 year anniversary of her passing. That night, during a mediumship reading, she began relaying messages from my mother. Then something shifted. My mom interrupted her and began speaking directly to me, through my wife’s voice. It took ten years, but I got what I had wanted all along. A conversation with my mother.
Eventually I started talking to my father in the same way. It was incredible. I could ask him anything and have a full conversation. One day, I finally asked him a question I had been holding onto. I said, where did that idea come from, the one about learning hypnosis so I could talk to Mom?
He said, son, you don’t remember. When you came back home and saw her on the ventilator, you said, I wish I could talk to Mom one more time. This whole journey, including your relationship with your wife, was orchestrated so you could do exactly that. Then I asked him, but where did the idea come from?
He said, that was a message from your mother.
All those years I thought it was my idea. But I had known it came from her, I might not have gone as deep. I might not have followed this path so fully. So yes, I was told what to do. I just didn’t realize it at the time.
I often share a shorter version with my clients who are receiving message from guides and ancestors, but may not realize it. Often we get great ideas, but are they really ideas or are they messages from spirit. I help my clients to better understand these messages and how to know if it is their own mind or if it is coming from spirit.
Now I know I’m doing what I came here to do, though I was also told what to do. I help people create powerful change through hypnotherapy, Past Life Regression, Life Between Lives, and Quantum Healing Hypnosis. And I teach others how to do the same. It’s deeply fulfilling. And it feels like purpose. It feels like home.
