Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Rager.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Aaron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Founded in 2015, NOVOS Energy has quickly become the premier Solar energy installer in Dallas/Fort Worth. Drawing on years of engineering and renewable energy experience NOVOS Energy designs and installs premium solar electric systems using locally-made equipment. We work closely with our clients to develop a customized solar energy system suited to their individual project needs and budget. Our founders have recognized an unbelievable need for an affordable, alternative energy solution here in Texas and [frankly] there is just enough options. Energy is at all-time demand and it is important for our team to give customers choices without a lot of pressure – our goal is simple: friendly and consultative service toward finding an energy solution that makes sense for each customer.
While we have always been interested in alternative energy, when interviewing companies to install a system on our homes, we were just simply not satisfied with the poor attention of detail, lack of communication, and strange financing options that other companies were offering! This was the point at which our fire was lit! We saw a massive need to build a renewable energy group that was relationship-focused and encouraged customers to ask as many questions as possible – without pressure or nasty sales tactics. Energy independence is becoming increasingly more important as each day passes – and consumers have the right to alternatives and the right to save money. It’s our goal to show people that solar energy is affordable, environmentally awesome, and exciting. From the first day, we opened our doors we could see the potential and desire from customers for more knowledge about solar systems.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a company is never easy; especially one with so many regulations, incredibly high standards, government and municipal agreements and partnerships, etc… coupled with the fact that we are really trying to disrupt a way of thinking. While Solar Energy solutions have been around for many, many years…up and until now it was too expensive to consider. A homeowner would need to buy the system, and stay in that house for over 15-20 years to get their money back. Now, it’s much different…with national, local, county and city [financial] support the return on investment is much quicker. Learning these programs and how they differ from city to city, county to county is really tough, but incredibly important when it comes to understanding and providing options to our customers. Furthermore, are the partnerships that are necessary with the current energy providers (Reliant, Coserv, ONCOR, TXU, etc…) While it’s fairly smooth to put panels on a home or business, we still have to run the energy through one of these providers. This is great because most of them do offer an incentive or rebate to adding a system to your home; but it changes from provider to provider and year to year. So again…starting a business is never easy, starting an alternative energy is really not easy…. but we are not doing so because it’s easy or hard; we started NOVOS to educate consumers and give them options, we genuinely want to help our communities and our environment. And if we can save our customers some money along the way, all the sunnier!
NOVOS Energy – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
NOVOS Energy designs, supplies, and installs state-of-the-art Solar energy systems for residential and commercial needs. Large or small projects we look at them individually and each as the most important project for that day. We LOVE solar and giving people options when it comes to alternative energy – sometimes it’s a great fit, sometimes it is not. But we always steer our clients in a direction that makes the most sense for them.
We support and consult on solar systems all of the following areas:
Single family homes, town-homes, or condos
Hospitals, Schools & Colleges
Property Owners and Managers
Agricultural & Industrial buildings
Community buildings
Architects and Residential / Commercial Developments
Homeowners or Subdivision Associations
What makes us different is very clearly our service and attention to detail. While it may sound cliché, it’s the truth. We have heard from our customers that many of our competitors are ‘off’ when it comes to service: late to return calls, unresponsive, not available during installation, prefer a phone call over a good face to face conversation, etc. With NOVOS, we believe in relationships far more than transactions. We are up front about expectations and regardless of the outcome, our goal is to educate our consumers on the process and give them the tools to find the best energy solution for their family or business. Transitioning to an alternative, clean energy solution is one of the largest investments our friends will make and it’s our goal to make each of them feel good about the decision and prove that we are your partner, not a contractor.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Great question! My view of success carries over between professional and personal, as I think for some people they are one in the same. Two factors for me: 1) I want to be a resource for people. And many times, I look at this as being someone’s first phone call. Regardless of what comes across your desk or comes up in your life that you need support (professionally or personally), give me a buzz! I like to help and if I can’t I will work hard to find someone that can.
Secondly, and this is likely different from a lot of folk’s opinion, but I feel successful when I have the freedom to be with my kids and family. There is something to be said about being able to take time away from work to make a child’s recital, a dentist appointment, or drop everything to take care of someone that isn’t feeling well, or help around the community. I love that feeling…and when I am able to ‘handle’ items like the above, I feel like that is hard work paying off.
