Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Tago.

Aaron Tago

Hi Aaron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have loved music my entire life. I grew up listening to all the Hip-Hop stars, but I never dreamt of having a career in music; my journey to music wasn’t one of those where I made beats on software at the age of 8 or wrote my first song in middle school. It all happened randomly; I was fresh out of high school and wondering what I wanted to do with my life. College wasn’t optional because I couldn’t afford it, plus I just wasn’t the school type. I was working job after job, and I got tired of it, and I told myself, “I have to do something; I have to make something of myself,” and that’s where music came in. I believe God led me to FL Studios and from there I taught myself how to produce, that decision is what led me to be the artist and producer that I am today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey of becoming an Artist has been a rollercoaster ride, and I have learned many lessons along the way. If I had to rank it, I would say learning the business of the music industry has been the most challenging obstacle so far. The second greatest challenge has been going through the process of rebranding myself as a producer to an artist. Lastly, I believe that keeping faith on the journey is another great challenge, every artist or creative knows that the journey of success can be treacherous terrain and to continue to persevere and be resilient is what builds strength. While my journey hasn’t been smooth sailing, I have had many triumphs along the way that make everything worthwhile.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I “do” is hard to describe, really, because I am a lot of things: an entrepreneur, an Artist, a music producer, and the list goes on. While I know that there are many artists and producers out there, I believe what sets me apart from others are my influences. I lived in Kenya, so I have the influence of afro music, I came to America and being raised in Texas you hear country music, and on the Hip-Hop side of Texas chopped and screwed is popular. I also listened to a lot of pop, rock, EDM, reggae, and house music. With all these influences, I infuse all the music I have listened to throughout my life and combine it into my own sound, and that’s what makes me unique.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I used to live in Kenya when I was younger, we lived in this place called South C. We were poor, so it wasn’t the best area, but we loved it because it was right by the safari, and we got to see giraffes, zebras, and all types of animals every day. It was pretty cool to see, I remember one day a tiger escaped out of the safari area and into our compound, the entire area was trying to capture it. All you could hear was all this screaming and shouting; people were scared and yelling at the tiger in Swahili as if it could understand. I think they eventually did capture the tiger, but seeing one up close was the craziest and one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed in my life.
